Important home stand for so early in the season. The competition is as tough as it gets. Sox need to at least hold their own. The Rays have what is , arguably , the best rotation in the league. Runs will not be easy to come by. Therefore , it is a must that our pitchers are at their best.

5 wins out of this 9 game homestand seems like a lot, but thats exactly what
we need. It has got to start today! Go Sox!!!!

It may be opening day for fenway12 but these next two games are far more important to the teams mental outlook. If Beckett and Buchholtz do not pitch well, how much pressing will the rest of the team feel the need to do to score 10 runs a game? Every game counts so it's never too early.

Just need a good performance out of Beckett sort of to reassure the fans that he is really on the same train as the rest of the team.

Once again Bobby V is going with six righties in the lineup and just 3 lefties (jake, agon, papi), something Francona did regularly last year.

When you look at Tampa's four starters for this series vs. our four, it sure looks like a big edge to the bad guys.  A win today against Price would be huge.  As the numbers show, he has been very good against our three lefties.

The Sox are right around the bottom in MLB in dingers with two.  Wouldn't it be nice to change that?

price is one fo the best leftys in the game IMO. to rough him up today would be huge. plus if beckett goes out there and doesn't throw meatballs we have a good chance. Fenway will do the boys good.

Why do I get the feeling that the highlight of Justin Thomas' career will be being introduced at Fenway on opening day.

Gotta be a bit bittersweet for Wake and Tek. They probably appreciate the response from fans, but both probably feel hey can still play and would rather be in the dugout.

OH that was cool, having them throw to Rice and Evans.

It's probably fitting that Wake didn't throw to Tek. After all, he usually threw to another catcher anyway.

thats was exactly my feeling too as I watched them walk in.

Johnny Pesky looks like hes gone downhill in the past few years. Evans looks like he could still man RF, if it was up to me, he would be.

    few boos for beckett

yeah ithough it would be funny if wake threw a knuckleball and v-tek couldn't corral it LOL

it would have been better if tek threw to wake instead but i like then throwing to rice and evans too

Other than the pitch in the dirt, has Beckett thrown a pitch that wasn't up, and out over the plate yet? Gonna be a long afternoon if he don't sew it up.
