da**it.  that did not look good.  brignac came down right on ellsbury's shoulder with his arm extended to the bag.  this could be bad.

And it's the right shoulder too. That makes it worse for the LH batter.

Terrible turn of events.  Jacoby stealing (the right move, of course) brings Brignac right to the bag for the DP and the injury.  I'm thinking it's a separated shoulder.

That's the bright side, but if he can't hit...... Good thing he's not one of those throw right/bat left players.

At least two weeks on the DL, probably more if that's the case.

At least we know you aren't watching the game.  He was on the base when he was landed on.

That's the thing about playing the Rays. Year after year there's always some stupid, dumb luck play that either goes against us, or goes for them. Remember last year in Sept. when Upton hit that ball right at Scutaro with two out and a runner at second? The bat followed the same tragectory as the ball and got there at the same time. Scutaro had to jump to avoid getting hit by the bat, but in doing so was not able to reach down and field the ball. The run scored and the Rays ended up winning the game. That was the game that kept us out of the PS. It's always something stupid like this with them, and it's why I loathe this team so much and want them utterly crushed.

I tore the labrum in my shoulder in the same sort of situation, granted it was rugby and not baseball.  Still, having someone land on the back of the shoulder of a fully extended arm.  Not good at all.

How about Longoria hitting the GW HR over that part of the left field wall
    that stands about 18" tall.

Wow. The air has really been let out of this game because of the injury, you can feel it. "Here we go again." I hope they don't fool around and actually lose it now.

Or balls taking bad hops, hitting the base and going in odd directions. Etc. It never ends.
