Can't believe the writers made Letterman ask David about chicken and beer. Even made it sound like it was this season. Ridiculous. People really need to get over that sham of a story created to blame specific players for the end of a season filled with injuries, amongst other problems.

I'll add, with the tremendous season and, especially, postseason David has had, I think it was beyond disrespectful to have him answer for something that never should have made press to begin with, and, again, wasn't even current. Sore losers on the Letterman show. IMO

Probably still haven't gotten over Matt Damon on Letterman. That was classic and hilarious.

It's a fun talk show so just enjoy it and move on.

It's like President Bush telling the Red Sox back in 2004 when they visited the White House, "So what took you guys so long?"  Funny if you ask me.   LOL

    Just laugh it off.  Laughing

you must not watch him too much, because taking shots at the yankees is something he does as well.  He also takes shots at the Giants, Jets and people who are always on his show.  It has been said many times that you just aren't popular until a guy like Carson or Letterman takes a shot at you.

Who cares about chicken and beer, it is part of the worst to first story.

Check out the begining of the interview and watch how he steps toward David and how he greets him.  That should be the focus and not something that even Bostonians joke about.

Well, when I am back home occasionally I will see him cruise by in his Ferrarri with the top down and noticed the interlocking NY on his head.  so, yes, I am guessing that he is in fact a "yankees" fan.  along with just about everyone else in Fairfield County.....

I'm a big Letterman fan. If folks watch his show often enough they know he takes fun loving shots at everyone. It's been part of his schtick for years.

Not many questions come to guests as a surprise.  Letterman goes by and meets all the guests before the show.  All questions are passed by the guests.  Letterman does not need shock and awe to boost ratings.  This is a guy who during the writer's strike, kept all writers and agreed to pay them whatever they wanted.  The guy is a class act.
If he knew about the question, he didn't answer it. It might be possible it was thrown in for comedic content. I just don't think that should follow the team everywhere, especially since this isn't really the team.

This is the first time I disagree with you and respectfully so.  Letterman has all athletes on and if he was blind siding them, they would not go.  Ortiz is more than just professional athlete, he is a professional in dealing with the media.  I bet he travelled with a publicist who also looked at the questions before the show.

In addition to being a class act, Letterman is a decent athlete who can throw a football well.

This is the guy who Johnny Carson hand picked to replace him.  After Johnny retired he never went back to the tonight show, but he did visit Letterman's show when it was in LA for a week.  Johnny came out and sat in David's chair and david went to the guest's.  Johnny kept writing jokes for David until he passed, which David devoted a monologue to.

The guy owns his show and his writers don't make him asks questions.
I wasn't really slamming Letterman. He had fun with Matt Damon and his comments after he showed up in a Sox jersey. He told him he was going to need security to escort him out after the show. Even the way it was asked, seemed like he was just reading it. Not really a full question at all. Like I said it's just getting old, and this isn't even the same team.

I think that's true. Don't know what team he supports, but he's definitely from Indiana.
