    After this season, however, I'm afraid it's giddy-up and 'happy trails' for Mr. Papelbon.

    He is more effective so far this season. He's doing what I said he should do last season (not that my opinion carries any weight) and mixing in pitches other than fast-balls. Don't know if he was injured last year and unable to throw anything off speed, but it's good to see. As to whether or not he'll be with Boston next season, that's anyone's guess. He seems to be leaning toward testing free agency. What kind of offer the Sox will make, if any, remains to be seen.
