    I think the Sox ought to offer Papelbon arbitration after the season.  Make that your contract offer, and continue to go year-to-year with him.  He might make 12-15 per year doing that (it's unlikely he'd accept, by the way).  If he declines then let him go.  There's really no reason not to take the picks for a guy whose true market value is somewhere around 3/30 to 3/45 (maybe 4/50).  The picks are too valuable of an asset....

    that's what I was talking about

    some think there will be changes for compensation in the new CBA

    if not, at least for the relievers




    if so this will really cause theo to change his game in the future
