i know what papi said about ped's. he said he never knowingly used them. but he also pointed out that he used some supplements from the dominican that may have contained some illegal substances. since the dominican republic is lax in controlling what goes in what how can you prove he didn't use over the counter substances that had illegal ingredients?
keep in mind that robinson cano used the same trainer that ortiz used so he may have used the same stuff. like i said, those who live in glass houses........

How is it any different from a Sox fan talking about them.  Manny and Papi are the main reasons the Sox win in 04 and 07 and the are both PED users. If you criticize ARod, Giambi, Sheffield, Pettitte, Clemens and the like you have to subject Sox users to the same scrutiny.

In Response to Re: Papi shutting it down? : Yeah concord I have to agree with Babe.  Ortiz was mediocre at best when he was with the Twins and then he teams up with Manny and became a world beater.  Ortiz gets a lot of slack on this board because of the uniform he wears but he was and most likely is still a PED user.  He had some BIG BIG games and moments, no doubt about that but we must ask ourselves what made that possible?  Ortiz should receive the same scrutiny on this forum that ARod does but simply because of the uniform he wears he is given a pass and that is what makes so many (not all) on this board hypocrites.

Well maybe it's because Ortiz doesn't have his PED supplying cousin Yuri travelling around with him,or he also hasn't been linked to Dr. Galea. Both of which happened THIS year to Arod.
Rodriguez brings the scrutiny on himself,he's got no one else to blame.

notice how the list of yankee players is longer and you barely scratched the surface. the yankees benefited much more from ped users than the red sox have so stop talking about ped's.

Ok but why all the Yankee finger pointing and why not look at what Ortiz and Manny did in 2004 and 2007 in the regular season and the playoffs?  Oh wait I know why.

because the list of yankees does not stop at 2. knoblauch, justice, clemens, are just a short list of players from the yankees who made big contributions in either the regular season of playoffs for world series winning teams of the yankees. sheer number of players alone show that the yankees benefitted much more from ped users than the red sox. so please, stop replying with ignorance and just accept the fact that the yankees cheated at a much higher rate than the red sox.

So if what you so is the case that negates the cheating that Manny and Ortiz have done?  Ok that explains it.

If you think Manny and Ortiz were the only 2 than I have a bridge to sell you, Varitek and Nomar were 2 more among others.

And how can you be positive that it was limited to manny and papi?

I would bet that even PEDro martinez was on something.

Its tough to have this conversation with someone who most likely feels that while with the Red Sox Manny and Papi were absolutely clean.  Thats the theme amongst many in this forum.......that the HR's Manny and Papi hit in the playoffs were clean because there was no testing being done during those playoff games so they must've been clean.  However if Manny and Papi wore pinstripes we can be sure they would all be singing a different tune.  Its completley hypocrtical.

Mikey, is that why MLB and ESPN do commercials featuring Papi?

Not so much your steroid poster child ARod.

You are dillusional if you think Ortiz did not beat your Yankee butts in '04, go back and watch the games.   Papi continues to kill Yankee pitching, that must eat you up, huh Mikey??!

Say hi to ARod for me, and his 31 million PED dollars for the next 6 years.

LOL ... biggest fraud in history.  31 million dollars worth of steroid degenerated joints.  And he needed ANOTHER operation.  Get used to it.

C'mon, Mikey ... Ortiz has played more than your boy ARod, and been more productive at nearly 1/3 the cost.   What ARod needs is more PEDs, he is an accident waiting to happen.  31 million dollars worth of PEDs every year, for 6 years.  Awesome.

So ESPN commercials mean that Papi was on Flinstone vitamins with a funny ingredient in them and not PED's? Ok that explains it all and what position does Ortiz play that is so tiring on his body? Gotta love those objective posts from Soxmeister!

He has been acting like a child.   Did you miss his intrusion on tito's press conference when one RBI was taken away? He is saving himself for free agency.  Players go on the disabled list all the time without having injuries. Even if he does come back, his timing will be off for weeks, just like after the home run derby contest.  The season is over for Papi.
    Posted by jackbu

It turned out in later reports that the intrusion into Terry's press conference was a joke set up by Pedroia and Ortiz. It was done for a laugh to see what Terry's response would be.  The rest of your post is just too lame to respond to.

Yeah good idea Pike, change the subject off of Papi PED use to a tune up tennis tournament in Ohio.  Only positive Sox talk must occur on this board for Pike/Kim!!  God forbid realism was allowed!

That article poses a good question on what is most important; the home field advantage during the AL playoffs or whether to rest up the battered troops and get them healthy in the final weeks of the season. Thanks for posting this Phil. Did you cast your vote?
