You take two of the most popular players with fans and you hire them as special assistants. This page is stolen right out of the Bruins/ Peter Chiarelli palybook ( Cam Neely).
Hey , it worked in hockey. But, I too feel this is all strictly PR. You know the majority of fans are looking desperately for something to feel good about, especially after the Francona media blitz providing these marketing sharks known a.k.a. baseball owners with even more negative press than they have brought upon themselves by being greedy moneygrabbers trying to capitalize on the short run of success.

this is mostly a PR move after the past 2 disasterous seasons.
I agree, this proves Tito's point. (Not that it was any secret anyway.)

Here's a decent article. Says he will spend some time with the young guys but will mostly be with his family down in the Miami area.

But I do feel that pedro has some important lessons to teach the young bosox pitchers.....like how the Yankees are your daddy......or how to properly apply jheri curl.....or how to beat up a really, really old guy....
So, protecting yourself from the rabid attack of a fat gerbil by pushing the unbalanced rat-imitator aside is now beating up? I didn't know that. I think that when Pedro said the Yankees were his daddy he really meant father, as in Father Reilly's a fairy, but it don't bother Mary as in the 'little boy lover' squad: NAMBLA Yankees.

I am pleased with both coming on board. I agree that they have a wealth of information and influence to share. There is little that is more impressive than someone being there ahead of you and being highly respected in the journey.

I loved watching Pedro pitch but his interviews killed me. He thought he should have been treated with kid gloves and his problems all needed to be solved asap. I don't like that he is back with the team.
Tek is great.

The only way that moment could have been better is if it was Bill Lee doing the beating. :-)

Or maybe a Bill Lee, Bernie Carbo and Fergie Jenkins tag team. :-)
