    pirates getting morneau...

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports the Pirates have acquired Justin Morneau from the Twins for Alex Presley.

The trade gives the Pirates a much needed upgrade at first base over the current platoon of Garrett Jones and Gaby Sanchez. Morneau, 32, is batting .259/.315/.426 with 17 home runs and 74 RBI through 495 at-bats and is set to become a free agent this offseason. Presley, 28, should see the majority of playing time in right field with the Twins.

I am glad that the Red Sox were not interested in Morneau at this time.  He would have been too expensive for a decent prospect with both Nava and Carp already available to play first base and hit lefthanded.

His numbers are just about the same as Napoli and he would have furher made the line up more lefthanded.

Good no trade by the Sox

Pirates are smarter than Rays!!!  Rays will more likely never win a world series title cuz they refuse to grab few guys at the trade deadline or on the waiver.

Now Pirates can seriously make a run to win the divisional title!!  Good job owner for not being a cheap guy like the one at Tampa Bays's organization1!

With the post-season eligibility deadline at midnight tonight, the August revocable waiver trade market is coming to a close. We just saw a big trade go down with Justin Morneauheading to Pittsburgh, and could still see more action over the afternoon and evening. One situation to keep an eye on is the possibility of the Red Sox going after a reliever, although the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham tweets that nothing is in the works for Boston at the moment.

    Michael Young - 3B -  Dodgers

Dodgers acquired 3B Michael Young from the Phillies, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Young isn't much of an upgrade over Juan Uribe but will likely get the bulk of the playing time at third base for the Dodgers down the stretch. He had to waive his no-trade clause to make the deal. The 36-year-old is hitting .276/.336/.395 this year.
