Possible outlooks... Which one do you like?

I don't necessarily agree with any of them... they are just some possibilities (Will only talk specifics on hitting)

    A) Sox stay in house for the most part:
    Sign Papi
Reddick or Kalish in right field
Youk stays at third and the rest of the team stays the same
Nothing over the top for starting or relieving pitching

    B) Sign Papi
Sign a platoon/right handed starter for right field
Youk and the rest of the team stays the same
Nothing over the top for starting or relieving pitching

    C)Let Papi go
    Sign Beltran/Cuddyer
    Youk plays 3rd and DH
Lowrie/Aviles get time at third and Kalish/Reddick get time in right
Nothing over the top for starting or relieving pitching

D)Let Papi go & sign DH or sign Papi
    Reddick/Kalish possibly w/ platoon
    Trade Youk for impact pitcher
Sign or trade for 3rd baseman (Ramirez?)
    Fill out rest of pitching

    E) Crazy one:
    Let Papi go
Sign Sizemore Rf and sign/trade for Right handed outfielder DH (Ordonez, Ross?)
Youk plays third with some DH time
nothing over the top for pitching

Pick your favorite one even if you dont agree with it fully. Then say which one you picked and what you would change about it

    Agreed, none of the above.

Kalish/Reddick is a nightmare scenario.  Find a major league RH RF, keep Papi and make a necessary trade for pitching, even if it includes Youk.  I think that could be tough as his value couldnt be lower, but the Sanchez trade shows there's #4 guys out there.

Boston will focus more on pitching than rather to sign Papi!!  Signing Papi is going to be Boston's last resort!!

I hope they dont lose out on Papi, and can sign Beltran for RF. The line up will then look like...

    Ellsbury(CF), Crawford(LF), Pedroia(2nd), A-Gon(1st), Papi(DH), Beltran(RF), Youk (3B), Scut (SS), Salty/Lav(C).

They have to make moves for the pitching. I hope Youk can bring us some SP.

Unless we get all three (Paps Ortiz and Beltran) pretty cheap that looks like it might be a little too expensive

yeah, agree with most,  F  none of the above.

None of the scenerios sound appealing. Sadly, we may end up with one of them.

I voted for D) because of "Trade Youk for an impact pitcher."

Not necessarily liking the idea of trading Youk, but liking very much the idea of getting an impact pitcher.

Can see how this may play out, though.

    1) Papi gets signed.
    2) Beltran is signed, becomes rent-a-player for 1-year, extra year w/option; Reddick/Kalish become trade bait for relievers.
    3) Youk and high prospect are traded to Cinci for Bronson Arroyo and Scott Rolen (in my dreams)
    4) Sox sign FA reliervers; Paps is gone; Bard the new closer

Re: Possible outlooks... Which one do you like?

I voted for A only because I think that is the likeliest scenario, but like others, actually prefer F:  none of the above.

In my F, the Sox focus on pitching, pitching, pitching, and on paying no more than 8-10 million of DH, preferably RH so that RF can be one of Kalish/Reddick/Linares.

The Sox need to save their money.  They have no real big bucks coming off the books next year, and already have a major bump in salary coming onto the books for 2012 (AGon).  They need that money to sign Ellsbury or find his replacement.  They have to remain cheap at RF and C, and they ought to cheapen the cost of DH, since no other team pays over 10 million for that position.

Re: Possible outlooks... Which one do you like?

Re-signing Scutaro was a mistake. That's $8M we could have used to get a power RH RF, or applied toward a 4th SP. Iglesias needs to play now! Even if he hits like Ozzie Smith, his defense is well worth it.
Papi needs to be given a 2 year contract else we lose him to NY. I see shades of Damon in our future.
Youk needs to be traded. We can't afford another 7 trips to the DL in 2012. Let someone else deal with his health issues.
I really don't care on way or another about Beckett. Only thing is, if the RS keep him, then Varitek stays since he can't throw to anyone else unless they convince him to use Lav as his personal catcher.
