Why would Farell voluntarily leave a team with 7/1 odds to win the WS for a team with 28/1 odds?
Why would the Red Sox hire a manager away from a team that got better after the manager left?
Besides the money?

Hey everyone :)
Predict the AL East standings for 2013.
I think for the first time since 2000, no team in the AL East will win 90 games since all five teams will be beating each other up.
I still think that two teams from the AL East will make the playoffs. So I pick Toronto to win the division and Boston to earn a wild card berth (I think Detroit will win the AL Central, Oakland will win the AL West, and the Angels will earn a wild card berth).
Toronto 89-73
Boston 87-75
Yankees 86-76
Tampa Bay 84-78
Baltimore 81-81

1) These odds tend to be fickle; not even experts can predict baseball well, which IMO is the most difficult sport in predicting.
2) Toronto made most of their improvements after he left.
3) Here's guessing he's a RS at heart; he took the Tor job 'cause it was an uptick in position, and was probably disappointed he didn't get the RS helm last yr; most would do the same.

I'm still trying to decipher this however:
"Why would the Red Sox hire a manager away from a team that got better after the manager left?"
Thank U, before I checked, I thought it would be a whine; U surprised me. To answer your question, IDK. And they only got better on paper.
Long live my J. Edgar BB card.

After the trades Toronto made, the number of their fans have tripled. LOL

Before everyone starts handing the division trophy to Toronto, let's see how they do when they are a favorite and their is a bullseye on their back.
But I do like Alibike's prediction - Boston will win 97 games in 2013 or is that 2004?
Personally, I have zero idea what to make of this division and how 2013 will play out. I don't think there is a clear cut favorite. And I will not be betting on AL East teams until June.

Agree, Jess. Regardless, hope you're around more, once the season starts, being part of the fraternity and all;))

After taking a long look at present rosters 2013 has a very good chance of ending up the closest race in many years. No team appears to be great but a healthy Sox team "although" not great, could make the PS and win the division.
Boston 88-74
Baltimore 87-75
Yankees 86-76
Toronto 83-79
Tampa Bay 80-82
Key word being HEALTH!
