Jays starter Kyle Drabek is the son of former NL CY Young Award winner Doug Drabek. Drabek won the award in 1990, and finished his career with 155 wins. Baseballreference.com has him most similar to former Sox star, Jim Lonborg. Drabek finished his career with more wins than former Boston worthies Aaron Sele (148), Bruce Hurst (145) and Sonny Siebert (140). Siebert was a fav of Bill's Dad back in the day.

if your talking about the one that got salty yeah it was. a perfect pitch. started off the plate and tailed back in to the edge of the zone. not much you can do about that one except hope he can't throw it again.

If Bard can stay like this for 6+ innings he will be a good starter.

Last year , Salty struck out 119 times in 358 at bats. One third of the time.  This was his 5th strikeout in just three full games so far this year. It's not like he is a great defensive catcher either .  Lavarnway is waiting in the wings.

    Minor League update.

Iggy got the day off in Pawtucket today. Pedro Ciriaco got the start and went 2-for-5. He's batting .353.

Will Middlebrooks went 2-for-4, homered and is batting .364.

Ryan Lavarnway went 0-for-4 and is down to .125.

Interesting -- Lars Anderson played LF. He went 1-for-3 and is batting .267. Daniel Nava went 2-for-4, homered, and is batting .417.

Something tells me the " Bard as a starter experiment " is not going to last very long.

well it all really depends on how well the BP does. since cook is ready to be in the rotation i think he will either take an injured becketts spot or if the BP falters they move bard back to the pen and give cook the 5th spot.

Cook has a May1 opt-out. I doubt very much they will let him opt-out. Look for him in Boston very soon.

Bobby V. has stated several times that Bard has to develop his changeup if he wants to start. I don't think Bobby will have a ton of patience with Bard if he can't do that.
