I tend to agree.  Where the F does the buck stop anyway???  The GD pitching coach?  While they definitely needed a new pitching coach, it's ridiculous to pretend bobby's guy is going to make a bit of a difference!  Bobby's guy is going to make Beckett care???  Lackey???  Dice-K???

    * I'm happy with the turn around by Buch!  This kid has shown true grit!
    * Lester seems to be coming around! :) I'm proud of him for not giving in to the    F'it Beckett / Lackey influence!

The rest of the rotation should be re-tooled!!!

Beckett / Lackey MUST GO!!!  No more BS!

The dysfunction must come to an end!  This is OUR F'n TEAM for god's sakes!

It was OURS long before most of these punks were born!

Bobby F'n V???  Red Sox PRIDE!  The two don't belong in the same category!

This year has been more embarrassing than anything I can remember.  I can't ever remember being truly embarrassed for the Sox.  I've been a fan since 1963.  At birth.  By divine right :)  It's practically genetic!  We've all faced a lot of heartbreak in those many years, but sheer embarrassment???

    It must end!

I don't want to hear one more supposed RS fan b itch about the Yankee's "little league ballpark!"  That's adding insult to injury!  That's below a real RS fan!  The Yankees, although I hate them, have as proud a tradition as us.  NO MORE!  We sure as s hit can't hit in that "little league" ballpark!

NO MORE C RAP about the umpires!

    No more excuses!

Fix it this off season Henry, or the ballpark will be devoid of REAL RS fans!  The guys who buy all that stuff you sell.  We'll watch, but we won't buy jack!

Too bad.  I liked his nutty new age angles.  Not sure it helped any of his pitchers though.  So long Bob.  You are now a proud official member of the Order of Sox Scapegoats, Yawkey Way Chapter.

When your pitching sucks you make a change to help. The pitching coach is in charge of the pitching and the pitching has been awful. Is the manager the pitching coach? To top it of off it wasn't BV choice either. Imagine that. BV is going to be here next year so let him bring in his guys to help him or fire him and bring in another Tito. I think they have decided to BV manage his way next year and this is a step in that direction. Another issue is the plate discipline. I dont want to fire the hitting coach but what has happened to grinding out AB to wear out the other team and grind out wins.

Yeah, take it out on Bob McClure, but keep Niemann? What the hell is that? They both sucked. They won't fire BV, but firing the pitching coach. This is pathetic fall guy stuff. I'm so sick of this organization, and why it continually defends Bobby Valentine. All year, it's about defending him to the masses. Well, he sucks, and the team is 3 games under .500 and they are going to probably not finish at .500....Pathetic.

It's not all McClure's fault.  Just like it's not all Bobby's fault.  Fact is, the "aces' have sucked and the position players are all injured.  Nobody could have done better with this mess.  A "change was needed", and it's easier to fire the PC than the manager.  And they kept Neimann because him and Bobby actually TALK!.

I guess I don't blame the manager for this teams short commings this season to me its all about the players horrible excuse makeing attitudes and under perfroming of what is expected of them. So the sox bring in a new manager but the same whinny team you think next season is going to be any different? Why reward the players for being unprofessional babies?

The starting pitching has significantly under-performed . Firing the pitching coach is not exactly shocking. Whether it helps , remains to be seen.  As for " grinding out at - bats ", that has nothing to do with the pitching coach. Or even the hitting coach. It is more of an organizational philosophy. And , it can be a double - edged sword. Too often we see Sox hitters taking a first pitch strike and falling behind in the count. Very few hitters are better when behind in the count. And , few hitters are capable of hitting with two strikes , and continually fouling off borderline strikes.  Ted Williams advised hitters to get a good pitch to hit and hit it hard. You may only get one good pitch to hit in your at bat , and it just might be the first pitch.  You have to be smart and flexible. You cannot be wedded to a " grind out at bats " mind set.

Agree, A manager should get to choose his own coaches, who he respects and who respect and can work with him. It sounds like they haven't gotten along all year. Maybe McClure should have been gone a long time ago.

That hitting coach thing was me having a major brain faaart  :)  I'm mixing apples & oranges.  You should hear me ranting about everything to my wife.  It's swirling around so much, so many problems, I can't keep a coherent thought. :&

So much needs to change!  Bobby V. was set up for failure, but ultimately collapsed under the pressure!  Plus...  Let's face it....  He's just too flat out nutty.  I'm sure he's a nice guy, but the Sox must get serious next year.  Bobby & half the players, 1/4th of the players, whatever...  must go!
