Brock Holt has struggled quite a bit with the bat this year, and we've all seen the way Pedro Ciriaco has had trouble both at the plate and in the field.

Jose Iglesias is the most talented defensive infielder in the organization, so it makes sense for him to be an option to play second or third in the event of a need there.

For now, however, the Red Sox still want Iglesias getting at-bats every day, so he's not going to replace Ciriaco as a guy sitting on the bench and playing once every 10 days in Boston.
