    Brandon Workman (4-0) was perfect for six innings, before allowing a lead-off double in the seventh, but earned the win as Portland beat the Reading Fightin Phils 5-3

    1B Travis Shaw extended his on-base streak to 22 games for the season and 23 dating back to 2012. Shaw walked in his final at-bat last night against Brandon Erbe.

    The Sea Dogs lead the league with 12 triples, hitting two in last night’s game. Portland has a triple in seven of their last eight games. Xander Bogaerts and Thomas lead the team with three triples.

    Barnes starting to get his game together and making the adjustments needed. Still some work to go, but an encouraging start for sure.

    Xander Bogaerts, who walked just once in 97 Double-A plate appearances last year, has walked 11 times in 101 PAs this year.

    The Sea Dogs bullpen was stellar once again. Pete Ruiz worked one and two thirds of an inning before giving way to Chris Martin with a runner on third and two out in the eighth.

    Martin got out of the jam as Heiker Meneses made a diving stop on a hard hit ball from Murphy to save a run and end the inning. Martin worked a scoreless ninth and earned his second save of the season. Martin has not allowed a run this season.

    Portland got on the board in the first inning. J.C. Linares' RBI double brought home Xander Bogaerts to put the Sea Dogs in the lead 1-0. Murphy's sole home run in the bottom of the fourth tied the ballgame.

    On Tuesday Pawtucket lost in 15 innings, with infielder Drew Sutton taking the loss. Jackie Bradley Jr. (.278) was 3-for-5, and Bryce Brentz (.272) hit his fifth home run. It was the third straight game that Bryce has homered ... Starter Rubby De La Rosa is still on a tight pitch count. He threw three scoreless innings (3 H, 5 K).
