    Red Sox sign Justin Germano

    Justin who?
    From MLBTraderumors.com:

The Red Sox have signed Justin Germano, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (on Twitter). The 29-year-old righty finished last season in Korea, and Heyman says he turned down more than $1MM overseas for a chance to make the Sox.

Germano allowed eight runs in 12 2/3 innings for the Indians last season before joining the Samsung Lions. He owns a 5.02 ERA in 253 career innings for the Tribe, Reds, and Padres. He also spent time in Japan earlier in his career. The Red Sox recently added Aaron Cook as well, as they look to build some pitching depth.

      was a 4th starter in San Diego in 2007  (7-10, 4.46 ERA, 1.29 WHIP 40BB/78K).
has been with the Reds and Indians, all in the pen.

I would assume this is a reclamation minor league/maybe middle of the bullpen signing.

Unfamiliarity and cheap deal and not too old makes this a way better move than paying millions to Tim Wastefield.

This guy could be a difference maker.     Wakefield may feel threatened for a job.

Another option.  Throw all of them against the wall and hope someone sticks.  Different for the RS but hopefully it works out

Silva, Cook, and Germano's signings are telling us front office won't spend big on any of those premier starters (Oswalt, Jackson, Kuroda)

It would be interesting "Bill" to see if they successfully trade Beckett, Youk, Ells or Buchholz in the offseason if they use the excess cash to go after one of the big three "Seanny" mentioned earlier?

Just curious, has anyone read anything outside of this forum that suggests or desires that Beckett be traded?

I doubt the return would make a trade of Josh Beckett a good idea.

This is getting as embarassing as it is comical.  There is know way we will find a "diamond in the rough" with the pitchers we are plucking from the depths of no return.  Any key injuries to our staff and/or Bard and Aceves not pitching well gives us another Smoltz/Penny experience on our hands.

Bailey is not as good as Pap, nor is Melancon better than Bard or Aceves.  We are laying back for a Lackey and Dice return and hoping for the best, not trying to improve our rotation.

Pete, the real troll kick is bringing back this embarrassment, year after year after AARP card year. My campaign ends when Wastefield is not offered a MLB contract. And that is a true team player, who does not want to see 2011 Wakefield millions cost ceremonial tour debacle Part 2.
