I hope this means they are thinking about giving Tazawa a shot at the rotation.
I would like to think so.

can't imagine tazawa starting with bailey and bard shaky propositions going into the season. seems likely they will sign a starter and other 4 in rotation will be bucholtz, lester, doubront, and lackey. if lackey is hurt or goes bust (both seem like possibilities) seemingly morales, de la rossa, or webster would probably be next up. maybe tazawa eventually starts but personaly i'd like to see him get a full year in the majors in the bullpen first.

My 7 favorite relievers in all of baseball.....
1-Kimbrel
2-Chapman
3-Rivera
4-Romo
5-Uehara
6-Jansen
7-Papelbon
That makes Uehara my favorite setup man in all of baseball. I am big on WHIP and nobody in all of baseball is a better WHIP guy. Also high on K/W rates. Nobody in baseball is better then Uehara either. Literally nobody.
Last 3 seasons Uehara has about a 190 OPS+. He has pitched in the American league his whole career pitching in great hitters parks.
Some might be concerned by his age or velocity. Don't be. He had better velocity last year then any year in his career. And better velocity at the end of last year then the beggining. His stats last year were better then any in his career. And better in Sep-Oct then any other month. His last 10 innings he gave up 1 hit and 0 BB. Close to a perfect extra inning game.
The only negative to me is that the deal is not longer. Thats hard to say when talking about a pitcher.

Looks like a good move and should really solidify an already strong pen for the Sox. He made 4M for the Rangers last year so the cost for his 1 yr contract is negligible for what he brings to the table. Now the Sox just have to figure how to get a lead to the BP to save next year.

The best move to date. It looks like we have the makings of a good bullpen. Hope we can stay in the game for 5 or 6 innings,

I'm surprised Texas did not make an effort to keep him. Maybe Darvish did not get along with him? LOL
Daniels said he definately wanted to keep. But w/ Hamilton and Grenke FA's wasn't sure what his budget was going to be. Guess Ueara didn't want to wait. This is a very good sign for RS. Keep the arms coming.

maybe we will pitch each reliever 2 innings to solve our starter problems.....works pretty well in the all star game

Relax gerom,
We'll get a starter at some point. Market just hasn't been moving along quickly yet. Besides Haren, just about every FA pitcher is on the market, and we still have a lot of money to spend.
Greinke, Sanchez, McCarthy, Jackson, Loshe, Dempster, and Marcum are all still on the board. Several options still there via trade (i.e. Floyd). Once Grienke signs, the market will start moving. I'd be surprised if they didn't add one of the previous 7 free agents, or made a trade for Floyd or someone like that.
Lots of offseason to go, and we got loads of Catchers and Relievers to unload.

Great signing.
Now, time for a solid starter (probably by trade).

Morales, Miller, Breslow, Uehara, Hill? Stockpiling lefties in the pen or a move coming?

37 years old. I would guess less than $2.5M
Yet again completely out of touch with baseball.
Better keep your day job flipping burgers.

Good pick up - there's your set up man.
It's easily the best move in the off season. At least this guy is good.

It clearly makes a good bp even better.
Like I have been telling you and others prone to whinning. Save judgement until you see the opening day roster. Still 4 months to go.

That's what the dumb folks do.
It appears your looking for the Sox to win games that aren't being played.
Stop whinning already and take off that pink hat.
