REMEMBER when the sawx almost had A-Fraud? What would have happened to our fortunes and reputation?

I suspect other players have not stopped either. but without proper testing primarily random blood tests there was no way to tell who has been cheating.

When Balco broke it was mentioned there were 5 or 6 clinics around the country which were distributing this stuff. Apparently this place in Miami is one of them.

    I'm sure there are more.

There are less controls in the DR where folks can take what they damn well please and back off before the season or do as Manny did take a female fertility drug to mask it as when his system was in down cycle.

Back to the Carnie comment that Manny was cheating while in a Red Sox uniform.

Did he confess while in a Sox uniform which ARod did while wearing pinstripes?

It is tough keeping up with Carnie's changing perception of Manny every day.

So your point is if a cheat fails a test then denies he used he's less of cheat then someone who admits?

None of us knew any of this was going on when the Sox were in pursuit of ARod.

We all thought he was the best talent in the entire game.

Now we find out he might have cheating all along.

Like all the rest of the cheats in the game I want them all gone.

First offense you miss the season second offense you're out of the game.

Arod now looks like the biggest fraud ever in baseball.

All he can do is deny like Clemens did.

TWM, you had no suspesions at all about AROD?? I remember Michael Kay, during a broadcast saying he literally bumped into AROD in the clubhouse before a game and it was like running into a brick wall. He went on and on about how his muscle he had put on.  It screamed HGH.

When I found out Arod failed the 2003 MLB adminstered test I was shocked.

Thought he was just a great talent. And he was so talented coming up and actually didn't need juice and why it caught me off-guard.

You can't tell that in 2003 when the Red Sox were after ARod that you suspected he was a cheat because no one did. There were no rumors out there until Canseco started talking which was after that.

He was roundly considered the best all around player in the game.

Jason Giambi I always suspected because of the whispers, I suspect that he has never stopped using.

I didn't think about it in 2003, TWM, but  I never wanted him. Never liked him when he was in Seattle,  Texas, and less in NY. He was a great player, regardless of why, but I always thought he was what we now know he is; an ego maniac, narcissistic azz. I meant since he admitted it in 2008, and was a yankee. Once he admitted it, you never suspected him?

His point is that I'm not a real Red Sox fan, I think. Which is something he's been saying since I first came to this forum. Because I actually, you know, get along with Yankee fans. Sometimes I really miss that ignore button. And where pike, did I call Manny any names? The guy I was calling out referred to Manny in every post he made about him for two years as "the despicable man-child juicer fraud". Try to keep up pike.

Oh yeah I suspected after he admitted.

Because there was no way if you could detect if he or anyone else was on HGH.

But I considered if he was and that if he was caught again the cost would be crazy for him to even try.

I under estimated how reckless he was.

Can you also stop responding to and enabling posters like Softlaw, Georom, and HelloitsMeAgain? Try it. It might be good for the forum. Everyone but you know that they are baiting, toying, and laughing at you as they type. Isn't that obvious to you?  Talk about baseball, start your own threads, and most of all ignore Georom, Softlaw, Babe, contrarians, and devil's advocates. If someone is 99% negative 24/7, put them under suspicion. Isn't that logical? Change the forum environment / mood from being negative. Is that unreasonable for a Red Sox fan?

What would be good for the forum would be if you went on a permanent hiatus.

Re: REMEMBER when the sawx almost had A-Fraud? What would have happened to our fortunes and reputation?

Did Pike actually challenge somone else on this board to talk baseball? LOL

Pike stop it with the 70 percent of the board are not Red Sox fans.

The truth is that 70 percent of the forum (maybe higher) are not Red Sox fans according to your "self-appointed moderator" definition of what constitutes a fan.

    As for this,

"I don't read Mazz anymore after listening to the interview last year between Felger, Mazz, and John Henry

Mazz and Felger are from the "If I scream Loud Enough, I'll be right" school of journalism...

Wastes of time, both of them."

I never liked Mazz as a columnist but the fact is that they had one of the only candid interviews with John Henry that has ever happened. It was great radio and questions were asked none of the daily beat writers who fear losing access to Fenway have ever asked.

In the process by the way Henry scored some points and addressed some issues head on. That interview was good for him and the franchise becuase it was the opposite of a scripted PR statement.

I realize it's simpler to just label people and throw them under the bus but it generally fails to capture the reality in its complexity.

As for A-Rod, I agree that the Sox lucked out when they ended up not signing him. It was one of the great non-signings in Red Sox history. It sure didn't feel that way at the time. I don't believe we would have won a ring with A-Rod but there is no way to say.

A more interesting question is: what if Lucchino had't messed up the recruitment of Mark Texeira? I'm thinking he was probably a good one not to have on the roster either but I think that's a more interesting (if less dramatic) question.

Do posters on Yankee forums expect Cashman to be over 60% right in hindsight on his transactions? That might be an unreasonable expectation. On this forum most posters expect 95-100 percent  success and that is why Yankee fans come here to watch the Hatfields battling the McCoys. Yankee fans come here to enjoy all of the squabbling but who really knows whether the squabblers are really Red Sox fans? Remember that this is the Internet.

nice brush you're painting with there Pike...

Few would mean a  minimum of 3 years. The Yanks won it in '09 and A-Roid had a great post season. Try keeping up.
