Valentine, Torre and Schilling?  Be serious.

Gardenhire wouldn't leave MN unless for huge money, which RS won't pay him.

Who knows about Mackanin ... bad thread.

Sox don't want a boat rocker, or strong personality, but someone who will follow company line, with saber-stats bewing the guiding force of organization. IMO the Sox will go for existing bench coach, or someone from AAA.

the guiding force behind the saber-stats guiding force was theo epstein.  Given that Henry is not a baseball man and Lucchino had to be dragged kicking and screaming to get on board with the Numbers Uber Alles game, I am not sure that this will be the guiding force going forward.  I suppose if they go with Cherrington, it will inevitably be a similar model.  But I am not sure that the end of both Theo and Tito does not alter the organizational framework.

On August 8 Jim Leyland signed a contract extension through the 2012 season:

What would the Tigers ask for in compensation?

Cubs plan to emphasize sabermetrics too. The smart owners seem to stress statistics.

Looks like Theo ran that sabermetrics program in the dirt here in Boston...If the Sox are the example of Theo's program...pity the poor Cubs.  He bankrupted the farm system and signed some long term contracts that will haunt the Sox for years to come.

    Re: Replacing Tito

Appreciate the sophisticated response calling me a "p of s."  I was unaware that Bleacher Report was a Larry Lucchino vehicle.  Pete Mackanin ... who knows, still.  Apparently you are unaware that it's a lot more fun to be part of a functional organization than a little higher in a very dysfunctional organization.  I'd wager that Pete would be very leery of the RS manager position.

The list of managerial candidates bandied about elsewhere is more realistic; I think that Dave Martinez will certainly be given a long, hard look.

A lot of people here don't seem aware of how incredibly unattractive the job is now.

    Suggestions of painkiller addiction?

Are you people aware of just how much that would turn off the sort of person we need on the job?
