And Vazquez's manager, former major leaguer Alex Cora, just tweeted in Spanish that Vazquez threw 95 mph on his 83rd pitch.

He's certainly worth a look for our 5th or 6th starter role to provide some quality depth...His preference has always been to play for teams on the East Coast. So he can go home and spend time with his family on off days...Puerto Rico is a hop, skip and a jump from Boston.

Sounds like he'd be a worthwhile sign.  But my guess is he would prefer to be in the NL because of much better history there, and that he'll want a team with an opening in the rotation.

I concur I wouldn't discount the Orioles or the Rays either...

Did he throw 95 plus mph when he faced the Red Sox's batters during 2004 ALCS?   I dont think his fastball is the problem.  He was never that good when he wanted to fool any batter by mixing up by using different pitches.
