After 49 games, Manny Ramirez's time in Taiwan appears to be up.

Ramirez's team in Taiwan, the EDA Rhinos, released a statement Tuesday saying the veteran slugger will leave the team. Ramirez is expected to leave Taiwan on Thursday.

"We regret [Ramirez's] decision to leave Taiwan, but we would also like to wish him all the best for what he has brought to us and to the prosperity for baseball in Taiwan," the team said in its statement.

Ramirez hit .352 with 43 RBIs and eight home runs, placing him in the top three of all the major offensive statistical categories, according to the Taipei Times.

According to the newspaper, the Rhinos attempted to negotiate with Ramirez to continue the partnership and gave him several undisclosed raises.

While Ramirez wishes to be closer to his family, the Times said he has also drawn interest from clubs in Japan.

I guess they don't test for PEDs in Taiwan.

The competition isnt nearly as difficult as it is here, so its no surprise if he could succeed there with no PED's. He might not have that same success here though.

No surprise he quit on his team (again)

HIS CONTRACT WAS UP. HE DID NOT WISH TO RESIGN. IF YOU WERE IN THE SAME BOAT WOULD YOU STAY IF YOU WERE NOT WITH YOUR FAMILY?

All those years here we heard he wanted out, but he couldn't due to the contract and dollars... I don't think he would have stayed here more than 2 years without leaving had he been able to change teams at will.

THAT IS WHAT WAS REPORTED BUT DID HE NOT SAY THAT WAS NOT TRUE.
