[QUOTE]In Response to Re: RIP DICK WILLIAMS :    He changed physically after '66. It took a few more years for the mental part, he was still dividing the clubhouse in '67 with him and his cronies on one side and Tony C. and Petro on the other.

That was starting to go away in '67 too.

From everything I ready about Yaz, '67 was the turnaround for him both physically and mentally.

I know there was Yaz-Tony C. split early, but I never thought Yaz and Rico were ever at odds.

I don't think reporters think he's very funny.

Don't underestimate Charley Manuel because of his southern drawl. He has as brilliant a baseball mind and might be the best hitting coach in the game. I had the opportunity to talk to him when he was with the Indians and they trained in Winter Haven. He's a big reason the Phillies have had the success they've had. He's a great teacher with young players. And if you listen to the way baseball people talk, he's one of the most respected baseball minds in the game.

I think it was 2000 but Williams was found walking nude around the hotel parking lot during Spring Training.

Here's betting you were the one who found him in that state and probably asked him for his autograph...just to get another peek.

Keep in mind, this was the period when he sanitized Yaz's JS.
    Williams got him primed.

No; but that would be more from him at his best than I would have expected, LOL.

Since Yaz can tell you the details. One of the funniest exchanges in forum history.
Then Rojas and I debated the merits of the task on another thread I started. It was like OJ and the glove.
