Sad news. Johnny Pesky was the face of the franchise for as long as I can remember.

Great Man. My dad met him in Winter Haven in 1986 Spring Training. My Dad went up to him and wished him luck on the season. Johnny Pesky said,"Thanks We're Going to Need It". Amazing they came within one pitch of winning the World Series. Thank you Johnny! My sympathy to the Pesky Family. -

A great man who will be forever remembered with the pesky pole. He has to love that, and the fans have to love that.
Hearing so much about how he still loved the Sox so much that he often went to see the prospects and spend time with them, shows he was Red Sox baseball through and through. He got to see the championships and the 100 year anniversay of Fenway. That is a great thing. I'm glad he was here for that. -

He lived a good long life but it still stings today RIP Johnny and thanks for all you did for the red sox and the good things you did for many regular people. By all accounts anyone that had an interaction with Mr Pesky had nothing but good things to say. -

What is it with Sox icons dying and the team having mutinies at the same time...Buddy Leroux Power Play on Tony C night is reminding me of Pesky dies, Team holds Player Mutiny to fire manager. yikes, bad kharma. -
