It's going to get worse in NY as well, at least in the short run.

How long will it last??  They're the Yankees.....they will NEVER be down for long.  They could POSSIBLY be shedding some payroll in the A-Rod situation and Granderson moving on and who knows if they could make a trade or two.  I know it seems like they are burring but how many times have they been down and out when all of a sudden a trade or signing happens out of nowhere and we are left scratching our heads?

    this won't help Yell...SportsCenter @SportsCenter 6m
Yankees 2B and free agent-to-be Robinson Cano is seeking a 10-year contract worth $305 MILLION this offseason. (via @Buster_ESPN)

No one will pay him that much money after everyone saw what happen to A-Rod, CC, Pujols, Hamilton, Cliff Wilson, etc

Cano is dreaming.  Best he can get is 7 years for $140 mm to 8 yrs for $160mm

    U forgot Teix & Wells

Agree. For the 1st time in a long time might want to say Mets have a brighter future than Yanks. The fact that it makes financial sense to get under the 189 threshold, the fact that their farm system has not produced enough talent, the fact that Int'l FA rules have been changed, the fact that the draft has been changed w/ salary allotments, based on picks and round, the fact that teams have now gotten smarter and are buying out some arbitration yrs to giving top young talent extensions before they get to FA. All these things are making it tough on teams that think they can buy a talent to win a championship. Basically going back to the days of old when teams had to produce talent to win. The Yanks had an incredible run w/ the players Stick Michael produced [Jeter/Mo/Bernie/Posada/Pettite] but if they don't get back to producing talent on their own could be the end of Yanks as we knew them?

just like that, reality has smacked down these jabross. old yanks would have put up a fight against the rays instead of just channeling their inner Lovelace and gagging everywhere. next year could b WORSE. jete will return but see that as a tragic swan song year. more rocking chairs and broken bats on a farewell tour that reminds all of yanks' ills. ditto with tex. may come back but has plateaued esp with his power. cano likely wont say yes. no reinforcements from minors coming up . y would Dave Robertson b any different next year than his last closa stint? likely no grandy man. cc isnt getting any slimmer or younger either. who replaces pet? a ton of holes, more so than swiss cheese.. wow! oh yep, no a-fraud (for now). if they are progressing somehow, he'll come back to put some water on that upon his return.

In all your moronic glee, you seem to be forgetting that the "Yankee jabros" are losing to TAMPA BAY, thereby enabling them to make the postseason, from whence they are one of the biggest threats to us. It would have been MUCH better had NY won all three of these games and knocked the Rays out. Additionally, there something called "next year", where a lot of these injured Yankees will be back. So, curb your enthusiasm.

Good post.  It is fun to bash the Yankees but there has to be a limit.  So if Tampa knocks off the Sox, I guess the Yankees will get the last laugh.

"yankees will get the last laugh"

There's no laughing in yankee land these days.

Well maybe when they saw Cano's asking price.

Re: ROFL... daaaaa YANKEES lose, daaaa YANKEES lose! how long will this DROUGHT last?

According to Pythagorean, the Yankees have been 6 games lucky this year. They should have a 76-83 record right now. In comparison, the Red Sox have been 2 games UNlucky.

The Yankees team is awful on paper and getting worse. They have only 10 players with atleast 1.5 WAR this year. Two are retiring. And 3 are free agents. Of players with atleast 1.7 WAR, the only returning players are Gardner, Nova and Sabbathia. Thats the core of their team next year. Their best players. Unless you think having a slow 700 OPS Jeter DHing is somehow going to help them win games next year.

As for the minor leagues, they have 1 top 100 prospect IMO. He is a catcher thats a year away and when he does come up, he will be a super young rookie catcher. Thats not something that helps in the win column either.

They will probably add some free agents like a pitcher or two and likely resign a few of their free agents like Cano. But if they don't, the Miami Marlins will be a better team then them next year, 180 million or not. How long will they miss the playoffs? Until they get Arod's and Tex's contracts off the books and sign 4-5 really good free agents. Thats at least 4 seasons away.

This isn't gleeful, just my take. They are already my pick for dead last in the East next year. With a good chance they don't win 70 games. They MIGHT have a chance again in 2018 at the earliest.
