Seriously if anyone suggests we trade Xander they should be banned and jailed for Blasphemy.

forget about age/name/salary of player your getting back.... Would you trade XB for 1 World Series title?

If he has the potentail we attribute to him, you also have to ask whether you'd trade your improved chances at a WS title THIS YEAR versus all the other years he'd make a difference under team control?

There was absolutely no one saying that we'd be in contention for anything this year. I'd be perfectly happy to watch some good baseball in a bridge year, keep our farm, and next year beat the bejesus out of the other teams that dump their farms this year hoping for something that's not going to happen.

Rosenthal, as usual, talking out of his @#$&*.

Life is what happens while were busy making other plans.

Dave Cameron every year does a trade value list. This year, he had Bogaerts ranked at 29th. Cliff Lee didn't make his top 50 or his 44 honorable mention list. Not in his top 94 players.

Its not very oftern that a talent like Xander comes along. Yes, we had Hanley, as well as his emotional issues and lazy play sometimes (Ala Manny). Xander is the whole package. Baseball intellect, mental stability, and a love for the game. Hes a special talent that you build around long term and pay him well for doing so.

Besides, like Ive been saying. Lee and his wife dont want to come to Boston and he has a NTC.

Unbelievable that this would even be considered by the Sox brass.

Unless you could guarantee that WS title, then it would obviously require age/name/salary...

No one player guarantees a WS. When the Sox traded for Beckett/Lowell they didnt win it until the next year after they got Dice-K, Oki, Drew, Starting Pedey and Ellsbury helping at the end of the year. Oh, and Paps committing 100% to the pen.
