what a laugh from a poster who got banned on numerous boards.

Not to mention Pike who has how many screen names?

But he seems to be doing ok on this board.  Are you jealous?

I would just ignore him Jackbu. He is the only poster I have had to put on ignore as I think he offers nothing but personal attacks here. The only way I can see what he writes is when someone quotes him. For the record, I was banned on one board because that board could not handle the kind of opinions that Moon and I have been espousing here: that this team as currently constructed, because of the questions about the SP, is not a contender for a ring. My posting style has not suddenly changed since I left there. Its the same here as it was there. TalkSox is highly censored and many people there get banned. Its a private board and since its their ball, they can decide who plays. I do not miss it.

Never saw you before today pumpsie.  Thanks for taking notice of my posts at one time.  I only remember the interesting posters, sorry.

No offense taken Jackbu. You should feel free to respond to any of the posters here you see fit to respond to, as I do.

    [QUOTE]

TV Guy was nice enough to find the forum rules. I think this deserves to be a sticky top of the list thread so people can clearly understand what constitutes proper behavior here. Yes, these rules can be found elsewhere, but I think they should be visible at all times. Here they are:

RULES FOR COMMENTS ON FORUMS AND ARTICLES

    • Be courteous. Don't threaten or verbally abuse other users; use obscene, profane, or defamatory language; post sexual innuendo, or deliberately disrupt discussions with repetitive messages, meaningless messages, or spam.=dumb
    • Use respectful language. Our community will flourish only when our Members feel welcome and safe. You cannot use language that abuses or discriminates on the basis of race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, region, disability, etc. Hate speech of any kind is grounds for immediate suspension of your commenting privileges.=bootlicking dumb
    • Debate, but don't attack. In a community full of opinions and preferences, people always disagree. Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com encourage active discussions and welcomes heated debate in our Forums and on our Articles. But personal attacks are a direct violation of this Agreement and are grounds for immediate suspension of your commenting privileges.=beyond dumb
    • Your comments must be truthful. You may not impersonate another user or a Boston.com or BostonGlobe.com staff member by choosing a similar screen name. You must disclose conflicts of interest.=lies are only spread by my competitors
    • Do not upload inappropriate material. You cannot post, distribute, or publish any libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, or otherwise illegal material. You may include links to other sites, but those sites must meet the same guidelines.
      REALLY?
    • Do not post commercial material. You cannot, without the express approval of Boston.com or BostonGlobe.com, distribute or otherwise publish any material containing any solicitation of funds, advertising, or solicitation for goods or services.
except if your'e BDC, then pimping is allowed everytime you open a page
    • You are solely responsible for the content of your messages. You cannot knowingly post content that violates the copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property right of any third party, and you must remove the same should you discover that you have violated this provision. Likewise, you cannot post content that is libelous, defamatory, obscene, abusive, that violates a third party's right to privacy, that otherwise violates any applicable local, state, national or international law, or that is otherwise inappropriate. You indemnify Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com, its employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims and/or damages (including but not limited to reasonable attorneys' fees) resulting from any claim brought by any third party relating to content you have posted. = aint no one got time for that

The simple truth is that this forum is, and always has been, a freaked-out mess.  The Globe tolerates it because they think there's some money in it.

Where's the money? There are no ads here, no fees. I have no idea how this kind of place can turn some sort of profit. It is mostly an anything goes forum which is good to a point. According to some long time folks here its getting worse, and many have left. I think it CAN be better and one way to do that is to have on site mods IMO.

You don't see the ads here?  I wish I could say the same.  Lately I've noticed there are ads popping up that are specifically directed at me.  Like if I was on a Staples/Business Depot website recently when I come here one of their ads might pop up.

And some coupon ads. Guess I never paid attention to them before. I wonder if that is enough for BDC to somehow make this site profitable.

My understanding of on line sales are, it goes by the number of vistors to a site. it's why the forums remain free. I agree, an on site moderator(s) is the way to go. At least worth a try.

Actually, I think this forum is run well, compared to what a mess another was.  I doubt there is much money generated from it, and I am sure they know it.  It is a good way to get a little feed back.
