35 HRs and 115 RBIs in about 150 games this year.

What more needs to be said?

It's not good enough, for some fans.

Re: Rumors of Papi's Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated !

    2012-2013 counting playoffs:

PA   AB    H    2B  3B  HR  RBI    BB

    Reg   983  842  263  64   2   53  163  132

    Post    51    41    11   1   0    5     12     9

    Tot  1034  883  274  65   2   58  175  141

    BA   .310

    OBP .403

    SLG .586

    OPS .989

The .989 OPS is better than all but 2005, 2006, and 2007.

    2004's regular season was .983.

The 36 HRs and 110 RBI per 650 PAs is pretty darn good.

Yes, it is not as good as 2005-2007, but certainly these are not retirement numbers.

Counting the playoffs, Papi's OPS since 2012 is now close to 1.000.

He also showed great enthusiasm and motivational leadership initiative tonight. Then, he showed and led by example.

This is a bit off topic, but I like this video of a 1996 homerun derby that includes a little-known David Ortiz:

I especially like the reactions of an equally young but more established Alex Rodriguez.

I guess the Cards have more faith in Ortiz's health than you do.

    Not surprising...

That being said, there is not a bigger RED SOX FAN on this board than DAD & BILL-806.........  The MOON & STARS are aligned and I AMM THRILLED TO BE ON THE BUS IN THIS GREAT PLAYOFF/W S SERIES !!!  GO SOX & PAPI TOO .... Maybe someday you'll see that the cheap shots you take at players isn't seen as "good humor".
