Farrell made it clear, in April, that Ortiz would need scheduled days off.

Yet, some still act surprised when it happens...

I know what Farrell said. I was not surprised he gave Papi another day off. I just disagree that he needs it. Isn't that allowed in a free country?

Good to know someone on the board examined Ortiz.

We don't have to guess anymore...

He's a DH. He could play 140 games with a walker.

Unless is foot is falling off, he should be out there... no wait, wasn't Schill's foot dangling by a thread as he landed on it all game long pitching?

Again, I'm not blaming Papi, but Farrell needs to start playing Papi 19 out of 20 games or 15 out 16.

Manager John is correct, and you don't have a clue, as usual. Ortiz will bring down if he isn't used as a part-time player. The time off helped him, tonight, but he can't produce the year long production that the Red Sox need.

Evidently, even with a sore oblique, Ortiz hits better than the "next Carlton Fisk".

Im sure if we were fighting to win the WS, papi would be playing, like Schill... In May, Ill let him sit a day. He looked like running on that hard floor in St.Pete was bothering him. Dont be surprised if he sits another day here.

And if players are hurt, they should let the team know. He's been awful and he's just telling the team now that he has an oblique injury?

I don't equate not telling the media with not telling the trainers.

Why I said I would be very happy if Papi plays 120 games is because its going to be a fight to get to that this year IMO. They need to be very cautious this year with the heels, and just being 37. To say things like, "Hes just a DH" "He only hs to run the bases", annoys me when nobody here talks to papi and knows how hes feeling or is in the medical field and has access to his health reports. Sorry guys, but you handle every situation differently. Im sure they (The Sox) are trying to get the most they can out of him without making it worse.

    Couldn't agree more...

It makes zero sense to run him out there everyday, just to lose him in June or July.

We have zero chance if Papi has a day off every 8-10 games we play. We barely have a chance with him playing 145 games tis year.

Then, they don't have a prayer, if he's reinjured, due to lack of rest.

If the Sox have to rely on one offensive player that much, they're screwed anyway.

The Sox played what, 18-19 games  without him, in April?

    They seemed to do ok.

In your childish captious blather, you seemed to foget that you recently said, and I paraphrase to make you look less demented, that "we won't get much for Naps" and then went right on and said "get something for Naps". Don't make me go get repost your own comment.

Also, your thread is wrong. Ortiz has a lat issue that sat him down again. It is necessary to treat him as part-time player.

Yes, we "won't get much" and we may "get something" are not mutualy exclusive statements.

And this clown calls himself a lawyer.

On Papi, I was talking about his heel injury as you know, but instead, you choose to divert.

I don't care if Papi has to walk the bases, because he can't run. There's no way he should sit due to his heel, because of the limited action a DH gets out on the field.

Keep telling us how Papi has lost his "pop".
