    Ryan Kalish

I know the Sox are struggling with outfielders, and I remember a few years ago people kept talking about being JD Drew's replacement?,...... so whatever happened to him? Anyone know?

He was traded to the Marlins and then eaten by alligators during one of their offseason conditiong programs. Very tragic.

It's too bad for him because Reddick has leap frogged him in the short-term.  He's farther ahead in his development and Kalish is still recovering.

They both mean there is no reason not to trade Ellsbury and never pay him past age 29.

I guess.  But if you were to trade Ellsbury than it would have to be within the next year.  Kalish is less than a year away and Reddick appears to be ready right now.

Well, we know who this is............

By what stretch of the imagination do we consisder trading Ellsbury given his recovery from injury and strong performance?

As far as Reddick/Kalish, well Reddick is deservingly the "flavor of the month" in Red Sox Nation yet once Kalish heals he's still the logical heir. Remember what he did over 80 games or so last year.

    Any other bright ideas?

    Re: Ryan Kalish

It could be David Murphy to Texas, signed and then traded away Mark Kotsay (not a homegrown player), and Brenda Moss to Pittsburgh?  Hopefully you were not thinking of Wille Pena??

Anyway, any players above is about the same as Ryan Kalish.  So it is not like a big loss to Boston.

Still if Drew was traded away two to three years ago, Boston would probably be responsible most of his salary.  During that time, Boston was already responsible on paying Lugo, Manny Rameriz and John Offerman in the past many years.  So Theo cant afford to trade another player and have Boston keep paying portially salary to another player.  Enuff of that crap.  So that was why Drew was never traded!!  Who care cuz it is his last year of his contract, and we will know he is gone after this season!!

Now the only player that is not on Boston roster at the same time Boston is still responsible for his contract, is Mike Cameron.  So I do not think Boston is willing to DFA Drew.
