Enough with S. Drew's ego and the need to validate his contract and the Iglesias trade.

Bench this guy for Bogaerts! Drew's numbers stink in the post season, and they aren't anything to brag about in the regular season!

Bogaerts is a hitting talent that Drew can only dream about before he broke down. Get on with!

Well since he faced Price and Moore twice as well as a number of LH relievers from Tampa, its no big surprise. Lets see how the 30yo does with mostly all RHP with Detroit and Oakland. I certainly wouldnt bench him because of not doing great against LHP when a bunch of RHP are on deck this next series.

The only way Drew gets benched is if he's having a terrible series AND the Sox are behind in terms of games.  Similar situation to 2007, when Crisp had a horrible first 4 games of the ALCS and the Sox were down 3-1 to Cleveland.  Ellsbury replaced him and the Sox came back.

He hates Drew because he hated his older brother.  There is no rationale for it.  He could have come in, hit .450 playing 162 games, driven in 125 runs, made zero errors and in his spare time cured Alzheimers, and Softy STILL would advocate benching him.

No, I mean, why would someone who dislikes the Red Sox care about their lineup?

Thanks god you are not a high school baseball coach.  Or otherwise you would go 0-18 ever year for whoever the high school you coach for!!

Boston won 97 games this year with mostly Drew in the lineup.  Now you are bit@hing about it??

To be fair, he's been bit@hing about people named Drew since whatever year they signed J.D.  That runs across all the Softy incarnations and his last name of the day as well.

Huge supporter of JD Drew. You are clueless.

Red Sox record was outstanding when Drew was unable to report for work.

Bottom line, Drew's been a joke in the 2012 and 2013 postseason, to date.

Ownership isn't resigning the guy and will go with Bogaerts, so get on with it!

And the idiot who said "Ellsbury replaced Crisp and it turned around the 3-1 ALCS", you need to get your head out of your backside and look at Ellsbury's plate numbers in the ALCS. He turned nothing around, but JD Drew did.

their record when he wasnt playing?? was it due to Drew not being on the field or due to the fact that we have an outstanding TEAM? you could have taken any one of our players our for 4 weeks or however long Drew was out and the Sox record wouldn't be much different. why? because we have a ton of depth and have a solid roster 1-25. the best in the bigs.

Softy, We are eight games away from a championship after a 69 win season last year. It is clear that at this point in time, S Drew's left handed hitting mediocrity isn't going to kill this team. I'm not going to miss him next year if he walks to greener pa$tures - but I'm going to focus on the last few games of a GREAT season - maybe the best in my lifetime. Can you appreciate that at all? Unlike some here, I don't think you're a souless troll.

Only the OP and RedSoxFireman are terrible in the 2013 postseason.  Everything and everyone else are great fun to watch, including both Drew and Bogaerts.  Starting Drew is an absolutely no-brainer, given his experience and very consistent play at SS.  Hitting not so great against the Rays, but a lot better than Iglesias's.  Starting not only a rookie but an inexperienced rookie at SS in the ALCS would be folly if Drew is healthy.

What an idiodic thread.  Drew has been good all year.  He had many clutch hits and fielded great. He could have easily had a three run double in game 4 if not for a great play by Loney.  He had big hit off of Price in game 2.  He is the starting SS. Period...

"Softy, We are eight games away from a championship after a 69 win season last year. It is clear that at this point in time, S Drew's left handed hitting mediocrity isn't going to kill this team"

Not to mention that if S Drew's weakness is left handed pitching, then it's on the manager to make sure that doesn't hurt us, no? That's a manager problem not a player problem, all players have their flaws.

"I'm not going to miss him next year if he walks to greener pa$tures"

Fine but he hasn't had a terrible season. He's been either decent or mildly disappointing but it was a one year deal for a reason.

"but I'm going to focus on the last few games of a GREAT season - maybe the best in my lifetime."

hmm...yeah, it could be incredible but nothing could ever beat 2004 for me for so many reasons. But this could be very,  very special.

Can you appreciate that at all? Unlike some here, I don't think you're a souless troll."

Actually I suspect off the forum softy has a lot to offer. But his board persona is almost 100 percent trollish and soulless. And that's all we can go on
