Salty, You DO NOT Make That Throw

Risk, reward. Closer on mound and two outs. That throw was completely unnecessary.

He should not play the rest of the series. Dumb.

STOP MAKING THAT SAME THROW TO THIRD BASE. IT'S SO HARD TO GET THAT OUT, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT.

There were TWO outs with your closer in the game and the Cardinals closer out of the game.

    It was dumb baseball.

Ross will be in there tomorrow.

Exactly. The risk/reward of throwing to third is too great. If the throw is bad, run scores. In this case, there were already two outs and the throw DID NOT have to be made.

Even if it was on the spot, Craig would have been safe.

Stupid decision no doubt, but was the runner even in the base path when he made contact with Middlebrooks?

HOW CAN YOU MAKE THAT THROW AFTER THE LAST GAME? IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE. NO RUNS SCORED, JUST GET THE OUT WITH THE NEXT BATTER.

not to mention he flopped. middlebrooks didn't even get in his way. the runner pushed him down and then "tripped" over him

UNREAL THAT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ARGUED FURTHER. THERE WERE SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THAT CALL.

100 % agree. You don't throw that ball. It was interference though. Wether on purpose or not, you have to call that. If it happened to the Sox we wouldn't be arguing interference.  We would have loved the call.

Wait - Im not defending Salty BUT if Middlesucks catches that ball it's a guaranteed DP. And he should've caught that ball. Either out at third or at home. But it's a GUARANTEED dp with any minor league defense at 3rd

The problem with the Armbrister call according to Bill Lee was not so much wether it was interference, it was that Dave Concepcion was actually out at third and nobody noticed that because they were all aguing at home plate. The real blown call was by the ump at third base.

And that's your only concern. You've put it in every thread in five seconds. It's so funny you don't care about the MOST RIDICULOUS CALL TO END A WORLD SERIES GAME.

Replays show if he caught it, he's safe or tie goes to the runner. You don't take that chance.

If Middlesucks caught it or blocks it the runners out at home!!! Although Willy probably would have thrown the ball into the stands going home

We should have walked the bases loaded.

He might have been out with a perfect throw.

    Middy should have caught it.

Middy was not in the baseline, so how did he impede anyone?

The runner did not even trip over Middy's feet: he missed his raised feet.

Salty made a great catch and tag on the play at the plate.

Blaming this loss on Salty is typical BDC hogwash.

Agreed - he had no chance to make that play. His emotion got to him there while trying to make an inning ending double play in a big spot.
