[QUOTE]No but francona did his best to give it away like he's done on other occasions this year. Trust me there is more games he will blow because he is clueless about the pitching staff. Give it another game. In Response to Re: SAME OLD FRANCONA, SAME LOSSES :

I would quit watching baseball before I would ever be a lousy, dirty skank yunkee fan. So I guess you don't know me do you? I hated that team since 1967 and never liked them as a team. I did like Billy Martin, and  respected a few of their players, but I dislike that team to a high degree. Believe what you want though.

Re: SAME OLD FRANCONA, SAME LOSSES

    Blinded by 04 and 07 ....

Love it.  I absolutely love it.

No manager, even some of the game's supposed finest, were not able to bring a crown here in 86 years ....

and we are blinded by 04 and 07 ....

Thanks, 11, I'll take that view any day.

My dad was born in 1917 .... died last January ....

AT LEAST HE SAW TWO CROWNS UNDER TITO BEFORE HE DIED.

GO ASK A CUBBIE FAN IF THEY'D TAKE 04 AND 07 ... OR WOULD RATHER HAVE "BETTER MANAGERS" AND STILL BE WINLESS IN OVER 100 YEARS ...

       YOU ARE MORE THAN RIDICULOUS.

Re: SAME OLD FRANCONA, SAME LOSSES

Sorry to hear about your father. Mine was born in in 1915 and died Feb 12, 2003. He saw the Grady Little mess and never saw them win a WS, and he watched every game. Exactly one year before to the day his sister died.  So I do understand the sentimental attachment to 04 and 07 and I was not specifically talking to you.

but that was a different team and their personalities are much different. It apears to many people now he has lost the team. His in game decisions are killing the sox now and putting a lot of pressure on some players. Even though people hate to admit it, the sox do need a change to become competitive.

I read somewhere when Francona was hired to be the manager, it was because he and Theo were on the same page about not giving away outs. So this is an organization problem and you heap it all up on the Manager. Maybe you should start trashing Theo(I am pretty sure you do this), and Henry they are the ones that told Francona what was expected and he is doing just that.

This is a team philosophy issue and not one decided by Tito.  That's why they pick up players like David Ortiz, JD Drew, and Adrian Gonzales.  These guys can HIT (or in the case of Drew, they're supposed to be able to!).  The team's philosophy is to get people on base and then wait for the 3-run homer. Whether or not it's working now is beside the point.  The point is that the personell on this team don't lend the team to playing 'small ball'.

If you don't like it that's fine, but don't blame it on Tito.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: SAME OLD FRANCONA, SAME LOSSES : When exactly is Francona accountable?  His decison making put this game in jeopardy. HE got bailed out by a one in a million occurrence (Ichiro losing a fly bal in the sun),

I think our team has to be able to score more than 2 runs.

IMHO, Francona is a mess...poor managing now going on 3 years. Time to move on. He REALLY is lost this year on both sides of the game.

Well at least the sox won today and he didn't hurt the team with his pitching descisions.

    Based on this track record...

    2004 98-64 World Series Champions
    2005 95-67 Playoffs
2006 86-76 (Injuries to pretty much everyone)
    2007 96-66 World Series champions
    2008 95-67 Playoffs
    2009 95-67 Playoffs
2010 89-73 (Injuries to half the team, but record was still just 1 gm worse than the AL champs)

...give me the "same old Francona" any day.
