No matter how much money the Yankees spend or how many pharmasuticals they take, they just can't seem to beat the red sox. Now they are stuck with the ancient Posada at first. Yankee fans are going to have to face facts that there in for a long year. -

well smiley, I really wouldn't say that they were "stuck" with Posada at first base. didn't he get on 4 times last night? his catching days may be over but the guy can still hit. and as far as text is concerned, I've taken a few shots on my legs when I played college and park league. I really felt for him and hope he feels better soon. just not too soon if you catch my drift. -

It does seem like Jeter has gotten old in a hurry, was watching the Yanks on the west coast and all he does is hit routine grounballs sort of watching a righthanded JD Drew -

The hyphenated people are part of the yankee baiting ensemble troop. Their characters show up to throw fuel on the fire, once a few yankee fans are foolish enough to respond to the Smiley character. They are also used sometimes to keep things moving until the prey shows up.
Then, the childish back and forth begins, with all of the insults from both sides. -

Smiley could have stated it differently.
Yankee 2011 payroll is $202 mil.
Red Sox 2011 payroll is $164 mil.
Red Sox have won six out of seven games so far this season vs. Yankees.
In the past decade many more Yankee players have confessed to using steroids or are going to court over it.
The old quote is "It is not what you say but how you say it".
Burrito likes him and Nagy doesn't.

Same old story for the Yankees! This is for educational purposes for the youngster who initiated this thread. The Yankees have a huge run differential compared to their AL East opponents so far this year head to head record notwithstanding. You will not get that type of information on ESPN because it's not controversial. The Yankees have accomplished more in the current decade obviously as well as in the modern era of baseball than the Red Sox franchise which disappeared for years while the Yankees were winning championships year in and year out. How many division titles (a legitimate right to a postseason appearance) have the Red Sox won over the past 15 years? Answer one and without the wildcard they would have been in the postseason once since 1996. The Sox have more WS wins than they have division wins. The Red Sox have beaten the Yankees 4 straight times at their home ballpark for the first time since 1939 (just before WW II for you kids at home). The Yankees have enjoyed countless Boston Massacres (4 wins in a row at Fenway) from 1939 to the present. The Red Sox have kept pace relatively speaking financially with the Yankees since the new ownership group arrived on the scene. The 2007 Red Sox enjoyed the highest payroll differential between 2 teams competing in the WS in the history of the sport by a huge margin which did not include a $51MM posting fee. The difference between them and that of the Rockies was twice as much as the Yankees' advantage over the 4 teams combined they beat in the WS in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000. I understand your pride in your team, but you cannot rewrite baseball history with a shallow observation. Same old story for the Yankees are division titles, pennants and World Championships. Same old story for the Sox is much much much less than that. -

I would love to see the Yankees drop off and stink for a couple of years as much as anyone, but can we wait until it happens before we start celebrating it? Yes, they're older. Yes, they're all over-paid. But they're still tied for first place, and it's the Yankees, they seem to find a way (trade, money) to keep themselves a factor year after year. I'm a Sox fan and even I find it lame to be bragging about beating the Yankees in June. -

Really Wilcy, we need to split hairs about how one gets to the world series? Wild Card Teams are scrappy and awesome. Don't tell me you'd rather win a division and lose in a series than win via a wild card. If you won via the wild card you'd be just as pompous as ever. That's the Yankee Way. Spit on those that hang up Division Title Pennants instead of Championship Pennants, and then turn around and spit on the Championship Pennants that weren't won via a Division Title. And you probably wonder why everyone hates Yankee Fans.
But you're right, no one should insinuate that the Yankees have a history of failure. That's just assinine.

I was walking down Main street the other day and saw a hyphenated man approaching me. I quickly decided to cross the street to avoid him. Mind you, I have nothing against hyphenated types and several of my acquaintances have hyphenated names but why go looking for trouble when you can avoid it. -

Wow, at $164 million dollars the Red Sox actually have a winning record and the Yankees at $204 Million dollars might win the World Series, fans of both teams must be so proud of their achievements. And when a light weight like the Giants or Reds win the World Series whats the excuse next? Pathetic
