The problem is Red Sox over achieved last year. Nava had a career year and it showing. He not some 21 year old prospect with upside. The guy is in his 30s and had one good year. Jake Peavy has not been the same dominate SP he was with the Padres. When he was traded to Boston last summer he showed signs that he is not a good fit for the Red Sox. He even struggled in the post season. Buchholz is 30 and the command is gone and he can never stay healthy.
As of this posting the Sox are about to lose either 11th straight game and falling fast. I think it is time to deal a few veterans The only players I would keep are: Lester( resign him) Lackey(unless we can get a top pitching prospect in a package deal) Xander, Ortiz and Pedroia.
