    Scott Posednik Why?

I cannot figure out this deal at all. Maybe this tells you that Kalish is not going to be ready for a long time. in any event he is another throwaway from another team who his hitting a solid .203 in the minor leagues for Philladelphia. Keep at it Young Ben, another high upside guy I guess.

AL, they acquired Posednik to fill the void in Pawtucket, for what they called "minor cash,"after recalling Nava.

For the record, if anyone thinks he can play CF please note that even in his PRIME he was a BUTCHER in LEFT FIELD.........

Other than Ellsbury, the Red Sox do not have a SINGLE BONA FIDE CENTER FIELDER in their ENTIRE organization.  If that's not a huge red flag regarding their "system" I don't know what is?

Like I said, he's a butcher.  Ask any White Sox fan.  Or, be like Theo and ignore any warnings coming from the South Side and while you are at it, give Bobby Jenks a FAT extension!!!!  :)

I believe Kalish is a very good outfielder but is injured at the moment.

Right, Kalish has been injured for a long time now.  Plus he is more of a RF than a CF.  Same thing w/ Ryan Westmoreland.  Regardless of all of the circumstances as to why the fact remains the same:  We only have ONE CF'er in the entire organization.  170 million payroll and supposedely a farm system unmatched that was built by the late, great Theo and all I am asking for is ONE other ML CF'er.  Truly sickening.........

The Sox have been in the mode of collecting these kind of run of the mill veteran players for a while. Going nowhere with these ham and eggers. With a maxed out payroll ( Thanks Theo ) , they would be better off pushing the development of the young players in the system.

Right but.....what young players in the system?  It appears that Theo ingored the farm system his last few years because name another organization that does not have at least TWO guys capable of playing CF at the ML - level on their 40-man roster?  or ANYWHERE in their system????

Forget Kalish. He's one of those guys who's perpetually injured. Bradley is a LONG way off.
Sox need a power hitting right handed hitting RF.

Posednik is a guy I was always hoping we would get because he has always hit lefties and righties well throughout his career.

Good move if he still can!

The biggest problem on this team for years is having one guy that doesn't need to be platooned all the time.  DMac, Repko, Ross, Sweeney are all specialists from one side of the plate.  Scott is a better "all round" guy and a veteran who always played hard.

you know the minor league teams need to field teams as well........not all minor league deals are for the Bigs. Mnor league championships bring money to the teams which help bring in good player development guys and upgrade the learning environments

    Re: Scott Posednik Why?

As far as major-league star player level centerfielders go, Jacoby Ellsbury is in the top three or four when healthy. Ryan Kalish, also currently recovering from injury, has already demonstrated competence defensively and some potential offensively.Ryan Westmoreland may never play regularly again, but we can hope and pray. Posednik signing just flabbergasts me. Meanwhile Marlon Byrd at first looked happy to be out of Chicago but has since fallen back to earth. I don't believe his defense is worth his batting limitations, and it appears Valentine agrees as Sweeney played centerfield last night.
Jackie Bradley or Brandon Jacobs have great potential, as to a lesser extent also do Bryce Brentz and Jeremy Hazelbaker, at least offensively. Bradley best looking of these but likely at least 2 1/2 years away from MFL even if all goes well.

What I just don't understand is why Che Hsuan Lin is in AAA and Juan Carlos Linares is in AA ! I've often felt Linares has the potential to be at least a good 4th outfielder and possibly a starter based on his Cuban League performance. Did he once do something to offend somebody in the front office ?
Or perhaps he has to demonstrate healthy and consistent play for some pre-determined length of time before being added to 40 man roster ?
Bobby Jenks, Jason Repko or Drake Britton could all be DFA'd without great loss, especially Jenks.

DMac should also be in that DFA'd category.   Someone in this franchise is keeping him around which is a complete waste.

Lin would be one of the best defensive CFer in the majors right now.
