And Crawford with another walkoff. The Crawford haters must be getting their new spin ready.

    one question carnie,

how many walk-offs will justify 140 million?

yazzer - one walk-off hit justifies the $140 mil, as long as it is against the Yankees in game 7 of the ALCS.

Like they say in the Mastercard commercials, that would be priceless.

If the Sox take two of three from the lowly Cubs with Aceves and Wakefield starting two of the three games, we can maybe get excited.

That is, we have yet to see the consequences of putting Lackey and Matsuzaka on the DL.

The same mentality is being applied to CC as was being applied to the team and Tito in April.  Yeah, it's tough to watch, but the baseball people who know a little more than we, continue to tout him as a great potential.  Some say he will be torrid in hot weather.  I'm for patience.

agreed piersall..Those of us that choose to look at CC's career numbers are choosing patience because the career numbers say he will hit, and hit a ton..

Just as I don't jump ship when the Sox go in a funk, I don't get all giddy when they go on a nice streak. This team is very very good. It has weaknesses, but not as much as other teams. Their weaknesses are being exposed now. Ours will return to cause some other bad stretches (hopefully shorter in nature), but after 162 games, I still think this team will be sitting on top.

I have to think the Yanks will make serious moves in July, and that may be enough to make them better than TB, but I do not think it will be enough to be on top. They have many "holes" and many players playing significantly over their expectations. We still have many playing under expectations (as do the Yanks).

Actually, it doesn't mean squat. Just look at Teixeira in 2010.

Agree, Moonslav. Yankees should be no real concern as currently constituted. They may make big moves at the deadline but until they do the Sox are the clearly superior team.

And a half game out of first. Gonzo looks like he wants to break Jimmmy Foxx's RBI record, and Big Papi is conjuring memories of 2007. There's a lot to like. Imagine when Pedey and CC start hitting.

Question is: Will Niatross draw off?

You've got me on that one harness. I don't know that much about harness racing. My great grandfather loved the trotters though...

Niatross was one of the truly great pacers. Drawing off means leaving the others in UR dust.

From what I just read on my google search, Niatross seems to have pretty much always drawn off.

I've been hugely excited and optimistic for 8 years (41 years, actually, but it wasn't justified or justifiable then, in retrospect)....for good reasons and with great payback.

I wasn't worried at 0-6, or 2-10, or 5-11.  It's only because that flat patch opened the slate that some people panicked.  This was always going to be a strong team.

yeah, I wouldnt bet against Tex either...would you? To say someone who is 29 and is having a slow start, that his career numbers dont matter in assessing whether you think he'll hit or not is ridiculous...What else do you have to go on except track record?

The 7 game string of wins is great but theo and Tito have to address CC's position in the lineup--either put him up between Youk and Papi or after Papi or drop him to 9 and explain why to him.

    OR...They're winning don't do anything...

Francona will not have CC attempt a steal with 2 outs for fear he may get thrown out and they'll have Tek or Salty leading off; valid concern. However you are losing a big part of CC's effectiveness. Drop Lowrie to 7, JD to 8 and Salty 9; end of conversation.
