He got that hit, but Adam Jones was the one who got the big hit, and Victorino has looked pretty slow at times with the bat. But youre right, he did look better in his last couple times up there. Hes still young enough to have a good bounce back year.

he's just getting in the swing of things.. most people think he is in a deep decline but it wasn't too long ago that SV was getting MVP votes.. we know he will give us GG defense, we know he is going to give us an edge on the basepaths, we know he is going to mash LHP. i'll take that, if he can give us decent numbers against RHP too he will be getting MVP votes once again.. -

We can't possibly know all those things. Based on his last two seasons, those things are doubtful. -

His 2011 season was his best. Don't count his 2012 stints with Philly and the Dodgers as two seasons. It's just one total. :-) -

You beat me to it. In 2011 Shane posted a slash line of .279/.355/.491/.847. BTW J Upton's best OPS is .899 yet everyone wanted to trade the farm for him. :-) -

He had a great year in 2011 and a down year in 2012 which included moving across the country to a different team. Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

over the last 2 seasons:GG calibur defense: check
edge on the basepaths (58SB/87%): checkmashes LHP (.906OPS/1.032OPS in 2011/2012): check
so tell he how those things are "doubtful" to expect this year? the only thing that is doubtful for him is that he will have an .850OPS against RHP. other than that. you can expect all 3 of the aforementioned things to happen.

Old Shane has been a black hole in the WBC. Bragging on one hit doesn't change that fact.
Last year is what Shane is, an old man with high miles that the Dodgers and Phillies kicked to the curb. He's a CF'er who is too old to play everyday CF anymore. For a CF'er, he's slow on the bases. He should be nothing more but a platoon/4th OF'er, but the Red Sox are paying him like he's one of the better OF'ers in all of baseball. Stupid.

Well, you are true to your M.O. at least. You have never missed a trick in taking an injury and wiping from the context. -

Let's see if old Shane puts up 30 SB in 2013. That's not happening anymore than Lugo putting up a high 300's OBP after the Red Sox signed him. NL and AL ball are not one and the same.

Victorino the worst signing of the offseason considering the money . He's gonna be hard to move to at 13 mil a year. Poor choice for that amount of money.

Pointing out the fact that Shane had the game winning RBI last night does not equal bragging. Except maybe in lawyer logic. -

Maybe Victorino got the game winning hit because he was the guy they chose to pitch to. Sometimes it's like in the NBA, where the rookie gets 27 because he is open all night long.
I'm hopeful about Victorino, and he seems like an extremely likeable guy who hustles a lot. Let's hope he has a good year. So far, the numbers are not in his favor.

Always liked Victorino's game, like having him but sox paid significantly more than they had to pay to sign him.
