Maybe Farrell do not want to risk more injury to OF's.  So maybe that is why Ellsbury is pulled to prevent injury

Shane Victorino - OF -  Red Sox

Shane Victorino left Sunday's game with a left hip contusion.

He's considered day-to-day. Victorino was injured running to first base on a groundout and had to be removed in the seventh inning. The Red Sox will reevaluate him Monday.     Source:  Evan Drellich on Twitter

Nice to hear that they can play tomorrow.  Farrell do not have to do that, but with a tough schedule starting tomorrow against Tigers, then the Yankees and Rays, guess these players want to keep winning and finish off the Rays for good to win the divisional title.  Then these players can start resting alot in the last two weeks of the season!!

Yeah, didnt look that serious. IVC would have stayed in the game if theyd let him.

I guess both Shane and Jacoby will be ready to go anyway, but there is no 15 day DL in September.  With expanded rosters, it's not needed.

This is a mysterious explanation since a contusion is the same as a bruise. If your blood clotting is normal that generally requires some sort of trauma to occur. How do you get a bruise on your hip running to first base?

It could have been when he slid into first base in his previous at bat. . Seldom is it a good idea to slide into first.

    Re: Shane

The hip contusion is an old injury he aggrevated in the slide at 1st. Knowing Shane, I don't think it will prevent his being in the lineup tomorrow. Same for Ells.

Life is what happens while were busy making other plans.
