Shaughnessy, you're part of the problem.  When can we expect the new book on the fall of the Henry/Epstein/Francona empire?

Why is he part of the problem? It was an excellent story and tells you how it really is.  It points out what a great captain the Red Sox have (had).

Agree that it was an excellent article by Shaugnessy.  I don't always like what he writes since he is so negative, but this article is very well written.  The problems that exist for this team won't be corrected anytime soon.

Re: Shaughnessy:Sox go from freefall to nuclear fallout

The media is loving every minute of this.  Ultimately, the players and management were responsible for the collapse.  They're both to blame.  Notice how the guys who aren't here are now painted as the bad guys by the guys still here?  Typical.  Francona's name is being dragged through the mud even after he refused to throw anypne under the bus and he stood up and said he's part of the reason why the club failed.  A stand up guy being cut off at the knees by players, managment or both.  Like him or hate him, he was a stand up guy his whole time here.

About the only person who I respect right now is Dustin Pedroia, who continually states that the only ones to blame are the players.  He's taking the high road and refusing to point the finger and give the media buzzards circling the carcass any free meat.

Shaughnessy is acting like a little girl.

The question isn't is there any wonder that Theo Epstein wanted out of Boston.
The question is why did Theo Epstein destroy the Red Sox steadily, then slither out of the door.

If the Red Sox go outside to hire an experienced GM, the Sox will win 16 more games in 2012 than 2011.

Shaughnessy is the first to spew vitriol on the Red Sox when times are bad, and also the first to cash in when times are good.

shaughnessy can go f... himself, Theo is not GOD, in fact he's human,  looking at the list of busts he signed over the years he quite human.

he waisted over 300 millon in has beens, never wases, over the hill ball players, just because he got luckey a few times does not make him un replacable.

Just look at the teams that made the playoffs this year, Theo didnot work for any of them! Hell, maybe that's why they did make it?

Totally with you, and honestly, it seems pretty simple and straightforward at this point. Owners can clean house, top to bottom, get players who are more like Petey and start with enough of a core to be a respectable team. I think the "nuclear fallout" was great for the Sox--makes everything clear and sets up new GM/Managers with an obvious direction. No more prima donnas no matter what their Billy Beane stats are!!
