I don't think I can respect anyone who's knocks the ortiz contract
or anybody who doesn't question the back up plan
that is the issue not the contract -

I think they figured if papi got into the sitution he is in now, the DH spot would be used like most every team is using it these days. To rest players and to have more versatility. Naps, Lavarnway, Gomez, Drew can all DH. There was nobody available internally or on the market that could put up the numbers Papi does, so replicating his production wasnt an option. -

Bill , I enjoy your style , but I think you are pushing this a little too far. It makes it look like you have a personal grudge against Ortiz. We may not like it , but injuries happen to every team in every sport. It is part of the game. That is why it is important to have depth. You can't expect athletes to play hard , then blame them when they get hurt. Especially a true Sox icon like Ortiz.
