Hanrahan also said he is open to resigning prior to hitting free agency..
i would expect if he pitches well and JF likes what he sees BC will try to lock him up for a couple years.

I agree.
I don't think they'll have any problem being "effective" whatever that means.They may not be #1 starters, but they'll be major league pitchers, sooner, rather than later.

I'm not sure that is logical. if the Raiders trade their #3 and #4 pick in the draft, for the #1 overall pick, would it depend on whether the #1 panned out to see if it is a good trade?
