A full vote of confidence going foreward, throuh 2015. I like the way he approaches his job, and I like the way he makes adjustments and is accountable for mistakes. I like the way he doesn't overreact. I think he can handle the malcontents and butress the confidence of the players who lack confidence.

There is no denying that he's done a good job with what I consider to be a poorly constructed ship.

"I am John Farrell, and I approved this message."

I generally ignore "Soft" threads, but this one is funny as hell.

I think they all wanted him when Tito was here, but he bailed a year too early. I believe when Franconas contract was up they were going to go in a different direction, but it all blew up on them.

Everything happens for a reason. Farrell got that valuable 2 years to learn the do's and donts of being a MLB manager. He made his mistakes with Toronto before he came here. The FO learned to not just sign the biggest names, but to sign the better fit for the team.

Good to see them back on the right track again.

Devildavid refers to himself in the third person and feels foolish doing so.

Farrell doesn't care what we think.

Farrell cares about his players and what happens on the field. Fickle fans have no impact on him, just as they didn't affect the great Ted Williams.

It makes it sound like he is your boyfriend or something Rick Ferrell wasn't that great and only played a couple of seasons with the Sox

Rick Ferrell is in the baseball hall of fame. I'd say he was better than "wasn't that great".

He like Phil Rizzuto was a Veteran's Committee selection meaning he had enough friends in the HOF. He did not have a typical HoF career.

I see, so "not that great" means an admission that he was great.

He hit over .300 four times during his career and, his .378 career on base percentage is eighth, all-time, among 50 catchers with 3000 at bats.[4] A patient hitter, Ferrell logged just 277 strikeouts in his 6,028 at-bats, along with 931 career base on balls.[1] He ended his career with a .984 fielding percentage.[1] An eight-time All-Star with a strong throwing arm, he led American League catchers four times in baserunners caught stealing, and twice in assists and putouts.[1] WIKI

He had 1600 hits in 18 years. 4 good years doesn't make you a HOFer.
