    Something is wrong with Lowrie.

    I bet we see Suttton at SS today. Lowrie is clearly injured. He was grimacing while swinging from the left side last night. Nobody is talking about it because of the hot start he got but Lowrie is starting to fade big time. Hopefully it's something minor and he can get on track soon. Our defense at SS has been really poor lately.

    The only thing wrong with Lowrie is that he is not ,nor has he ever been, a shortstop. Move him to left, let Crawford and Ellsbury cover the big field, and tell Drew to grab some pine.

    Jed hurt his shoulder diving for a ball...yes yazzer, and then the offense will stink instead of the defense..take your pick. Just dont bash the kid when he doesnt hit..

    Jed collided with another player on a pop up and hurt his shoulder.  Jed plays SS like Nick Green, that's what is really wrong with him.  If he can't swing the bat his value to this team decreases significantly.  The hole on this team is at SS and he is unable to fill it on a day to day basis with any sustained success.  If the hole were at third, where you rely more on reflexes and less range is needed, then it would be a different story.  I like Jed, I'm pulling for him, but watching him play SS on a regular basis has become a bit of an adventure.

    He's been on base 6 of his last 12 (4 for 10).

    He's trying not to miss a game or he'll incur the wrath of the clown.

    Lowrie should go to the DL and Iggy should be brought up to play ss--keep Sutton as a utility player for the time being. Find a way to DL JD--we've seen too many grounders to second, pretty third strike swings or called third strikes. DFA may be the last move.

    You have to play Reddick or send him down. Make him your everyday RF or platoon with Cam; don't let him rot on the bench. DMac probably will be DFA'd after his stay on the DL. Like Nava--he will pass through waivers and get assigned to the PawSox.

    What's wrong with him is he's not a major league SS.

    Next year they should move him to 3rd and slide the fragile youk to DH so maybe he can stay on the field.

    the way DREW swings the bat, it's amazing he's not on the DL with carpal tunnel syndrome. but seriously, the SOX are a better team when DREW isn't playing.
    and with the SOX'S offense this year, they can afford a weak-hitting, strong-fielding SS in the line-up. IGGY should be the starting S.S.
    if one were to ask all of the pitchers on the SOX who'd they want at SS, is there any doubt who they would choose?

    ^^^Iglesias needs more time at AAA.  I have no doubt the pitchers would rather keep Lowrie/Scutaro and not make Iggy the starter just yet.  Yes, the defense has been horrible.  If that continues and his offense slides at all there will be hard choices to be made.  OTOH, he wasn't this bad in prior years ... surely not a defensive whiz but within sight of average at worst.  So there's hope he will look better going forward, but it's definitely something to monitor.

    Oh, and yeah, Drew needs a hot streak and mighty soon at that.

    I have to agree, we need a better defensive shortstop, whoever that is. Lowrie is a great super-sub, nothing more.  So many freaking balls up the middle that even Jeter would have gotten too :)

    In Lowrie's rookie year in '08 he got through 40+ games at short without a single error.  Funny game, this baseball.
