If the Dodgers do get him, that is going to be one of the best off season news for the Red Sox!!

The Dodgers are getting what they paid for.  There moves are going to render serious consequences in coming years with exessive penalty's and reduced draft picks.

This doesn't come without saying that they weren't aware of the ramifications of their actions.  They are "going for it"  and in their minds it will be well worth it.

As good as they look now though, if they don't win a WS in the next couple years things are going to get pretty ugly in LA.

Dodgers already are almost unbeatable even without Cano.

Do your sources have the Red Sox moving to the NL West? Now if a clutch, power hitting guy like Paul Goldschmidt would end up in Arizona, that'd be a prob............ Er, wait, nevermind.....

Agreed, but it will never happen. NY will not let Cano leave.

they are committed to a $200m budget, yanks are second at $189m. they are queasy about overpaying and overextending for another soon-to be jabroni they would have a tough time getting off the roster in a few years. the dodgers are the newer hipper yankess. $ overflowing, could care less about luxury tax nonsense.. at worse, they will make yanks really overpay for cano. yanks are balking at going beyond 5 years and going over $20m.. dodgers are willing to go 7 years with a vested 8th year at around $23m per year.

look at that lineup next year.. the disruptive craw-MVP candidate puig-STEADY gonzo-resurgent HANLEY-hungry cano-HEALTHY kEMP.. with  top-nptch bench and clubhouse guys like punto.. plus those golden arms (minus beckett).. talking all-time greatness here!

Good, let them do it !!!!  In the long run that helps both the Red Sox & baseball as it will hurt both the Yank$ & Dodger$  !!!

Haven't we learned ANYTHING?  Back in my youth (that would be the year 2012) the Sox took a team north that NOBODY was going to be able to stay with.  Unfortunately intangibles such as a bad attitude in the clubhouse.... well... without reviving a painful memory, ...look how that turned out.

The danger in loading up a team like that is that if they win they'll be looked on derisively as "The NEW Best Team That Money Can Buy", and won't get any respect.  And if they don't win they'll be the laughing stock of baseball.

Having the right to do something doesn't make it the right thing to do.

    We'll see.

A few back it was the Cleveland Indians that had the Cadillac of farm systems. On the rise and would make a mockery of the AL central.

Until they actually win something the Dodgers are just pretenders.

No, but they are playing very good ball right now. You cannot buy a championship team. One or two injuries to key players can kill a team's chances. If the Dodgers FO thinks they can purchase their WS rings they are all fools.

And ask the Angels how they think it worked out getting all the High priced Free Agent Talent, like Pujols and Hamilton....and ask the two teams that let them go....and look where they are right now.....the Yankees losing Cano might be the best thing to happen to them in the long run

I admittedly don't know the cba rules or whatever they're called, but isn't it against the rules for another team to discuss what they'd offer Cano?  The article linked by JBay says nothing like what the title of the thread says, just that Cano might not sign with the yankees.  I personally see that as extremely unlikely.  They have always had multiple superstars but most of them are getting near the end.  I don't see them going into next year without a legitimate MVP candidate on the team.

Your speculation as to what each team is willing to pay Cano is just silly speculation, nothing more and nothing less unless you've some inside source or you're going undercover as a mole to invade both teams front offices. Or if you base your figures on that of a sports writer you need to get your head examined.

How can you say that?  They would be as unbeatable as the '27 yankees or 2011 redsox.
