Sox centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury and starting pitcher Josh Beckett were named All-Stars by the players vote joining David Ortiz and Adrian Gonzalez, elected by the fans for the AL All-Star team.
Jon Lester, Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard did not make it. Lester shouldn't feel too bad. CC Sabathia wasn't elected either.
Other Sox snubs were second baseman Dustin Pedroia and third baseman Kevin Youkilis.
David Ortiz, who is captain of the Home Run Derby for the American league, has chosen Adrian Gonzalez and Jose Bautista to be on the team.
Ortiz said he has also invited Mark Teixeira, but is awaiting word from the Yankee slugger pending his selection to the All-Star team.
Ortiz also said he has asked Robinson Cano to take Teixeira's place if he can't do it, and also has Josh Hamilton as a backup plan.
