Hopefully we'll pay his salary (and those of anyone else we trade) to get prospects in return. It's not like we need the payroll space this season...

yeah an up until an hour ago you were all Peavey/St. Louis.... stop believing all that you read Bill.... I mean Moon

Stop the hyperbole. I was not "all Peavy/St. Louis". I merely mentioned that StL wanted Peavy as a response to a poster who said nobody wanted him.

Giants having interest in Peavy (and potentially being the frontrunners) was reported yesterday, can't remember by whom off the top of my head...but it is not a brand new development out of thin air.

No, the way it works is that you eat your own hat.

If you are going to take crap back, shouldn't it at least be an area you need it - like hitting.  They've got the pitching end of it pretty well covered....unless it's to facilitate another move.

Whoa...a brief look shows Escobar is having a poor season in Triple-A at age 22, but was ranked #56 by BA coming into the season. More than I expected to get for Peavy, in other words.

not bad trade especially SF may be eating up all of his salary.   Now Boston could have eaten up salary and get crappy prospects in return

Let's see here. We trade Iglesias for Peavy. Then we flip Jake for Edwin Escobar.   Escobar is 3-8 , with a 5.11 ERA in AAA.  And, we eat some of Peavy's salary.  Ben is wheeling and dealing.

    Stabbed by Foulke.

If they are anything decent the Sox have to eat the money.

Peavy helped this team win a WS. Or does that matter?

[object HTMLDivElement]        Peavy , with his 4.00 plus ERA did not help all that much. It is an exaggeration to say that he helped win a World Series. Trading him for second rate prospects, while eating salary shows that he does not have much value. At least it makes room for Ranaudo or Workman.
