If Ells is going to try to up his steals, SOMEBODY has got to talk to him about going back to 1st head first.  NO MORE scampering back.  He could hurt his foot or something?!?!

i don't blame him. the last time he slid head first someone landed on his shoulder and brokeded it.

pitchers got smart. He was feasting on inside pitches, he rarely got any to work with last season(with limited ABs of course). Guys are working him away now, they can't do that forever though. don't worry, that power surge will return :)

You're going to fit in perfectly with the gamethread group.

i'm hoping we can get into a chat format as opposed to using the forum. it isn't very conducive for chitchat about the game.

Shouldn't be a worry, unless the 1st baseman decides to slide into him.?  He can get a better lead.  I love Ells, but he's not exactly a genius on the base paths.  It's too hard to get a great lead, then go back in feet first.  It's much quicker to go back head first into 1st.  It allows good base stealers to get a bigger lead.  He should be grabbing far more steals.  No reason he shouldn't get 30+ in 2013!

For those who don't get NESN , this game will be televised on the MLB channel tonight.

Don't they black those games out in the NESN viewing area?

Well , if you are in the NESN viewing area , you get NESN. If you are outside that area , watch on MLB.

Buch is working it. He is looking as good as i have seen since early 2011 (maybe 2010?). I'm expecting BIG things from Buch this season.

He didn't slide head first on that play. He slid feet first , trying to break up a double play.
