    Starling Castro at SS?

just wondering if this guy is coming our way because of the way they dumped off Marco Scuttaro. None of the guys we have can be really counted on to hold the job down fulltime. Does not make sense.

    Not happening.

And why is it that Aviles cannot replace Scutaro?  Wouldn't he want the chance, and didn't his audition as a late season addition earn him a chance?  I would expect similar offense, with maybe a bit more pop, and steadier defense (fewer throws that flutter to 1B).  If he proves he cannot do it on a regular basis by June, then they have Punto, that other utility guy they signed, Iglesias, or a trade to come in and take over.

Also, wondering if any of Tampa's 3 SS will be DFAed.

    They won't.

Rodriguez can play 2B if Zobrist is needed in the OF or at DH. Plus, I think Iggy can out hit Brignac anyways.

Not sure ifAvilescan cut it at short, and with theloss of Scuttaro this team is significantly weaker. iI am watching to seeif Young Ben picks up anybody, because I do not think these guys are going to cut it. Iglesias struggles with his hitting. not good at the moment unless Young Ben picks up somebody. In response to "Re: Starling Castro at SS?":

With all due respect, this is just another fantasy subject. We know this will not happen.

Yes, when the Sox trade a starting player the only obvious course of action of for another team to hand over a young All Star caliber player for no reason at all.

how come most people who insist a transaction "makes sense" never take into account the other team?  Exactly how does this "make sense" for the Cubs?

He is singularly untouchable.  He has five controllable years left.  Costs virtually nothing, and is the type of player that you absolutely need to build around.  He's still only 21.  Posters need to consider the motivation behind the seller.  Think about players getting expensive for small market teams.  Think about minor leaguers for teams needing a vet to compete for the WS.  Think about rebuilding teams.

If you can't put on a Cubs hat, and think of some very good reasons why they should trade Castro, then the only reason why they would trade him is if they robbed us.

So what if the Sox gave the Cubbies Iglesias as part of the compensation package to get Castro.

Since Selig is on record as saying the Sox would get something significant for compensation, e combo of Epstein & Iglesias for Castro just might be something that Cherington proposes and Selig considers.

It might be a pipedream but it is a possibility.
