Need Lester to step up and throw a big game today. Maybe even a complete game shutout. Sox lineup is weaker than the economy.  Ortiz and Ellsbury on the active roster but " unavailable."  Salty the backup catcher.  So , the bench consists of Aviles.  Pretty sorry state of affairs.

Getting the K.C. feed today, so no Heidi.  On the plus side , they do a pretty good job, without the silliness we sometimes get from Remy and Orsillo. Guess you can't have everything.

Looks like an all day thing... local game just suspended in the 3rd inning.  Red Wings playing Scranton (Yankee AAA)... interesting story in local paper... seems Scranton Wilkes-Barre is looking for a temporary home for next season as their stadium undergoes renovations... considering Rachacha... may have 144 home games next year.. which would mean more work for  me.. so I'm all in!

Not a whole lot to like with the Sox, of late. Players are dropping like flies, with no apparent sense of urgency to get back. The guys that are playing , are for the most part, not producing.  Starting pitchers in constant pitch count trouble, causing the pen to be overworked.  Problems, problems, problems. Things need to change soon or we will see the Rays gaining on us in our wild card rear view mirror.

Can this ump really not see the strikezone that often? He has missed several strike 3 calls for Lester, that should have been easy calls

I realize it is the Royals, so enthusiasm should be tempered, but we still have a chance to take 3 of 4 in this series despite being on the road with a depleted line-up.  I'd say that is something to like.  That said, the next series worries me nad I agree that the Sox do need to get healthy soon and multiple players need to break out of current slumps.

Not many posts so far this afternoon, either everyone is bitter about last nights atrocious game or not keen on watching the Royals.  Or maybe the Sox lineup scared em away

While the Sox struggle with injuries and all... what other team could lose players like Papi, Youk, Buch etc... and still  be on pace to win 90+?  And its not like other teams aren't dealing with their own issues... Twins had no position players on the bench and Mauer playing right field the other day just one example.  Things will okay... get healthy for the playoffs and bring on the Yank-mees... the ultimate "red-a**" has them right there despite his starting staff (CC and mirrors)... and speaking of "GI Joe"... why hasn't he punched out AJ Burn-out yet?

Posted by westcoastsox9[/QUOTE]afternoon WCS9...umping continues to be poor across the board this season, from flat out blown calls, to horrid balls and strikes, and a couple of hair trigger ejections...one more thing to combat during a tight season i guess..

Here's some good news for the Sox Tim McClelland was demoted from crew chief to just another crappy umpire on Joe West's crew. For his blatant and obvious bias in umpiring HP and third base in the Sox series he umped recently! If the MLBPA had anything to say with it he would now be umpiring in the Sally league.

Lester just keeps grindin' it out... broken bat single first one of the day... with pitch count he might go 6.

Well I guess that is something, at least it shows there is some type of evaluation going on. McClelland in that series was absolutey horrid, not just cause he missed lots of blatant calls, but it was extremely one-sided.  Very tough to watch. I never like to say an umpire is cheating, and like to think that they are equall bad for both teams, but that was like nothing I've seen, recently anyway.
