I posted this in the Dem Yanks thread a couple of days ago, just so you don't think I'm ripping you off, but my number was $208M/8.  Maybe with an optout.

The problem is that I calculate based on value, but don't know how to assess the non-linear GMs.  I thought $175M/8 for the value for Pujols, then bumped it up to $200M/8 knowing there'd be a crazy, but then the crazy decides to round that off to the nearest quarter-billion.

There aren't that many teams in play.  But I don't think the Dodgers are done with their mad spending spreee just yet.

Maybe, but there is also the Cuban and Utley.  LAD has shown a lot of interest in the Cuban, and while Utley should re-sign with Philly, he's much more attractive at $39M/3 than Cano for ~ $200M/8.

Whatever he wants. I'm not even kidding. No matter that he visits the same clinc as ARod, et al. -- even with enough money to go a-n-y-w-h-e-r-e, and see a-n-y-o-n-e. It was claimed that he goes there, but they can't link him to any steroids. OK.

As long as he's getting a free pass, he could wind up wherever he likes with his record, and for whatever amount of money he wants. Count on it.

Cano will sign for slightly more than Teixeira received.  I put him at 8 years $195-200mill.

And as bad as that contract can get, in no way will it ever be as destructive as Teixeira's contract was for that organization.  Not only is he rapidly declining, but the Angels used the compensation pick from the Yankees to draft Mike Trout...

Thats what I think too, but I think its a fair number. I am hoping the Yankees choose to pay him close to what he is asking for 10 years. Handcuffing them financially even more would be nirvana.

Not unrealisitc on both parts of the prediction.  However, I predict the same rate or close over more years, and the greater level of frustration...

There is a lot at risk for Hova here, as if he gets Cano a mega-deal, it will attract more clients.   However, if he only gets Cano some "piddling" 4 year $100mill contract, it is somehow branded as a failure...

No, it shouldn't be.  Nobody would read it.  Plenty of threads about other teams on the front burner.
