Intellectual, controversial and scintillating rhetoric one moment, gibberish the next. Sounds like you took another poster's pills; who I don't know, but there's a bunch of them on the smack threads.

    2) It was a typo
    3) You are a obsessive liar.
    4) You are flailing and scrambling to get just one thing right.
    5) I wasn't calling you out. You always misrepresent my posts. I know we aqll make typos and occaisionally mispell words. I could care less. I was writing to someone who thought you were not softy, because you misspelled a word (typo). You still dont get it, silly clown.

I am not misrepresenting. I said TB would not go away. I am right here. I wonder why you keep bumping this thread with nothing new to say.

The bad new is, this sounds like something CYDI (aka you know who) would write; Charles Krauthammer/George Will one moment, CYDI/Smiley/Babe/Sheriff-Rojas the next; that's quite a shift in paradigms.

I'm sure moonslav will admit being wrong if Tampa doesn't recover.  I also suggested they would disappear but there are a lot of games left and the schedule could still give them a shot.  I just don't see it happening with their present offense and limited options.

If the Red Sox went on a 5 game losing streak and Tampa won 5 in a row then they would be only 4 games out.... still a lot of time for some scares on the way to the title.

It's close, but I am not writing them of just yet. They had an early season losing period and came back strong from that. With their pitching, and Longoria seemingly snapping out of it, they are still just barely alive.

Their pen is stumbling. Their starters are still doing very well.

It wouldn't surprise me, at this point, if they sell a couple pieces. I see they brought Jennings up. He could be a big help. I do remember them trading Kaz in the middle of a pennant race.

A couple young kids making an impact today:

    Alex Cobb: 7 IP 0 ER 6H  0 BB (3-0 in 7 starts with a 2.57 ERA)
Desmond Jennings 2/3 today and 2.3 yesterday (his 1st 2 games this year).

Rays are 6.5 games in back of NY at the 100-game mark.
Have other teams ever conquered this deficit?

The Rays will climb all over NY if they smell blood and sense NY is slipping.

Re: Tampa Bay Is Not Going Away: Part V

I think the Rays are about to go on a run.  Jennings is giving them some energy, and they have a pretty easy schedule over the next couple of weeks (Mariners, A's twice, Jays and Royals).

The Yankees have an easy schedule the rest of July, but only 9 home games in August and a west coast swing in September.  These last two months were always going to be the toughest for NY, and they end with 6 of 9 against the Rays, so I wouldn't even come close to counting TB out yet.

Re: Tampa Bay Is Not Going Away: Part V

I had expected Jennings to make the team in April, buy Fuld has done well. Hellickson and Cobb have been awesome. Many expect Matt Moore to be a contributor very soon as well. Their solid draft this year should help to replace those being called up.

The schedule looks tough for TB, but they can change their own destiny, especially starting Sept 9th:
    3 games vs Bos
    3 @ Bal
    4 @ Bos
    3 @ NYY
    3 vs Tor
    3 vs NYY

I often negect to compliment Moonslav on what he brings to this forum. He, Katz, and Boomerang are vital to the sanity, logic, and reason on this forum. They don't generate hits like Babe and Softlaw do and thus Harness is not that impressed by them. Some appreciate quality and others (Burrito, Harness) dig quantity and entertainment.

Tampa is 10 games behind Boston in the loss column with 63 games to go.  :)

They are 6.5 behind the Yanks for the WC and play them several times before this season is over.

It's a long battle, but still within reach.
